"You guys don't need to do anything, I can get back to my house no problem" Jack claimed. "Are you sure, Jack? It seems really dangerous to be wondering around at your size" Brittany asked, concerned. Jack nodded. "Yeah, I'll be fine. I have some stuff to do on the way home anyways so it'll work out". Brittany shrugged and motioned for Eiko to leave with her. Hesitantly waving goodbye to Jack, Eiko was tugged along with Brittany and left the school. Now that he was all alone again, Jack needed to come up with what to do next. It was getting pretty late in the afternoon, around 4:00 and the school would be shutting its doors pretty soon. With the halls empty, Jack could grow back to normal and get out with no problem. Before turning the machine back on, Jack took a peek around to make sure no one was around and then switched it on.
In just a few moments, Jack was back to normal and on his way out the door and on his way home. Since he stayed so late in the afternoon, his mom could have come and picked him up, but Jack decided that he wanted to walk back and see if there were any instances where he could shrink down and explore. Unfortunately, there weren't any opportunities on the route that he took, so the venture home was rather uneventful.
Once he got home and slipped his shoes off, Izzy came up to him. "Hey, Jack! Now that you're back from school, wanna do somethin?" she excitedly asked. Jack shrugged. "I don't know, Izzy, I'm pretty tired. Maybe tomorrow" Jack responded. Izzy slumped and as she did, she noticed something poking out of Jack's pocket. "What's that?". Jack looked down and noticed the shrink ray was coming out of his pocket. Quickly shoving it back in, Jack replied "Nothing, just a science project". "What kind of science project?" Izzy continued to question, "could we test it out?". "Absolutely not, it's not a toy" Jack shook his head. Seemingly defeated, Izzy walked away but paused and turned back around. "Tell you what, Jackaroo. After dinner, you and I go play that racing game and if you win, we let the science project go, but if I win, you tell me what it is and we play with it. Sound fair?". Jack was concerned. One of the last people Jack would want knowing about the shrink ray was Izzy, but she sucked at the racing game. Plus, if he won like he always did, Izzy would leave him alone. "All right, you got a deal" Jack said. With a little fist pump, Izzy went to the kitchen to get ready for their evening meal and Jack soon followed.
