"Mummy, mummy! My shoes hurt!" Arissia said as she ran up to her mother and hugged her against her side. Zoe was in the middle of a conversation with a drink in her hand and looked down at her child, perplexed. "Arissia? What do you mean baby? You said they felt fine at the mall yesterday when we bought them."
"Well, I was by the snack table and I was picking some things up and then my both my feet started to hurt, and then I..." Arissia was cut off by her mother. "Snack table? Ari I hope you weren't eating too many of those sweets over there. It'll ruin your appetite and give you a stomach ache. I knew I should've gotten you half a size larger like the salesperson said. Don't get those shoes dirty, I'll exchange them for another pair tomorrow". Zoe said.
"But-"
"No buts young lady, now go have fun and play with the other kids. AWAY from the snack table" Zoe commanded as she turned back to her conversation with a sigh. Arissia pouted a little bit and held her head down as she walked back towards the sound of kids cheering and screaming with glee. Looking around, she saw a group of kids playing tag near the petting zoo, which shifted her mood pretty quickly. As she sped over to them, she noticed that Oliver, who was originally asleep in a stroller, was actually playing with the kids as well. His clothes looked a bit small on him, and she'd never seen him walk or talk before right now. Somebody else had actually caught her attention as well.
There was a child that she hadn't seen throughout the duration of the party. They had clothes on that were a bit too large for their current size. However, they spoke amongst the rest of the children like they were no stranger at all, and none of the other children batted an eye as if something were afoot. Arissia approached the group of laughing children and tapped Maya on the shoulder. Something seemed odd about this as well because before, Arissia was only up to Maya's chin, but now the two of them saw eye to eye.
Maya didn't seem to notice. "Oh hey, Arissia. We're all playing freeze tag and we're trying to figure out who's going to be "IT" first.". "That's cool. I got a question though," she said, signaling for Maya to get closer so Arissia could whisper, "Who's that kid? I've never seen em before."
Maya gestured over to the unknown kid, "Oh, them? That's just:   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
