You peek your head in through the front door and shout "Everything's ready to go!"
A moment later you hear Ashley shout back, "Just making sure there's nothing perishable in the fridge!"
You let out a snort of amusement, mostly at yourself for not anticipating that answer. Of course she wouldn't leave the yogurt and fruits you had left spoil while you were gone on holiday, not when they could be put to better use. As you strolled through the door into the front hall, your eyes alighted on a photo that hung there showing when you and Ashley first met in person. As you stared at your younger self being squished against your then internet friend, you couldn't help but take a quick stroll down memory lane.
You'd been a fairly anxious and lonely lad when you'd first learned about the wondrous worlds that could be created through Dungeons and Dragons, and thus you didn't know anyone around you to play the game with. Fortunately you had the internet to help with that, and you eventually found your way to an online campaign with four other people who you only knew through their screen names. There was Cryptkeeper the dungeon master, Fir3ballz the wizard, CittyKat the druid, and G0thicShad0w the rogue. They all knew you as Calibur the paladin.
The first few sessions of the campaign were somewhat rocky (Fir3ballz being the kind of player who thought that catching the paladin with a burning hands spell was funny), but eventually you'd all managed to get some solid teamwork figured out by the time the bandit leader who was the main villain of these first few sessions was defeated. From there, Cryptkeeper wove a tale of an evil cult that was planning to revive the dead god Necromundus, a plot which you and your fellow adventurers strove to thwart over the next two years of your life. While defeating the various agents of the cult was exhilarating, one of the most unexpectedly fun aspects of the game was the subplot you and G0thicShad0w made about the paladin and the rogue overcoming their mutual distrust and becoming friends.
At the end of the epic campaign, the cult's plans were thwarted and the day was saved. Cryptkeeper then said that he was getting busy with real life and declined to run another campaign, and the group fizzled out without the dungeon master to keep them together. You quickly found the void that this left in your online socialization was unbearable, and you decided to join a new MMO, Chronicles of the World Tree, which you hoped would scratch that itch. When you created your MMO character you decided to name him Calibur as a tribute to the paladin you'd played for two years.
Every day you thank your lucky stars that you'd done that, because not too long after you starting grinding your character you got a message from a player with the username G0thicShad0w. It didn't take long for you both to establish that you were who you thought you were, and soon you found yourselves getting closer and closer. Back in the D&D days group chatter had been mostly focused on the game itself, but now you and G0thicShad0w started sharing more about your lives and formed an actual friendship. It was how you found that you would both be going to the same university, and thus would be able to meet face-to-face for the first time.
It was a prospect that had both thrilled you and racked you with anxiety. Ashley had been as anxious as you were (if not worse), later telling you that she feared you might reject her. She was a pretty big girl after all, having grown to 200 pounds just before leaving for university. You'll never need a photograph to recall the first time you'd seen your wife in person. Black hair with streaks of it dyed purple, a soft face with the beginnings of a double chin, and bright blue eyes. A low-cut black shirt, not able to entirely contain her substantial bust or to hide her soft belly. Wide hips and a bubble butt contained in a pleated black-and-gray checkered skirt, held up by chunky legs encased in fishnets without a hint of a thigh gap leading down to surprisingly dainty feet in a pair of sensible black flats. To this day you swear it was love at first sight, even if it took a while longer for you to work up the courage to actually ask her out.
The sounds of Ashley in the kitchen shake you out of your nostalgic haze and you continue towards. While Ashley had been 200 pounds back when you'd met as freshmen, she hadn't stayed at that weight. Your beautiful wife wasn't the biggest fan of exercise and her diet leaned more towards pizza and pies rather than salads. You thought her figure was stunning, of course, and the prospect of it getting bigger intrigued you. Ashley wasn't as enthusiastic about the idea, though she didn't seem in a big hurry to make any changes that might slow her growth either.
As you walked into the kitchen, you saw the perfect example of what had caused your wife's current shape. On the table were several cups of yogurt, a gallon carton of milk, some plastic containers which used to contain leftovers, and a few cartons of ice cream, all of their contents emptied into Ashley's stomach which seemed a little bloated. You start to clear away the empty containers from the table as Ashley leaned back.
"Thanks, babe," she said, stifling a burp.
"You're welcome," you respond. As you throw the empty ice cream cartons into the bin below the sink you remark, "You know, the ice cream probably would have been fine for the weeks we'll be gone, being in the freezer and all."
"Oh, you never know. Better safe then sorry," Ashley replied. "Besides, you really complaining?"
"I'd never," you chuckle. Ashley knew you too well. After you finish cleaning up you say, "Well, car's loaded up, house is clean, and fridge is empty. I'd say it's time we get on the road."
"Alright," Ashley sighed. "Help me up?"
You nod move over to help your wife stand. As you got her to her feet, you couldn't help but remember what the scale said when she'd stood on it last night. Ashley currently weighed...
