You decided that it would be the best to keep her unaware for now. As soon as you finalized your choices the screen went white for a second and then the device went back to the beginning screen. Nothing happened. You were still in the kitchen, still looked like you, still wore your clothes.
"Thought so. As if there was such a thing as swapping lives", you thought and put the device back into the box it came from. You sealed the box again and were about to throw it into the trash when Jane, your youngest daughter, entered the kitchen.
"Hey mom, I wanted to know if it's okay when Sarah and I go for a night swim?", she asked you.
You were about to say that she should ask her mother, she was usually the one who decided such stuff since you were too busy with work most of the time. But then you noticed something odd.
"Did she just call me mom?", you thought and looked at your daughter with disbelieve.
"Mom?", she asked as you gave her no answer. "Everything okay?"
You shook your head. She called you mom again. Did it really work?
"Er- yeah. I'm fine. It's okay, uh, sweety. You two can go", you stuttered, not wanting to worry your daughter while you try to figure out what was going on.
"Yay, thanks mom", she said happily and hugged you before leaving the kitchen.
You looked after her, perplexed at what just happened. "It can't be… Can it?", you thought. "She really though I was her mother… Right?"
Disbelievingly you looked over yourself, but you saw nothing out of the ordinary. You took out your smartphone and turned the camera to see yourself. Everything normal. You were to put your smartphone back when you noticed something strange. Instead of your white phone case, the phone was now in a pink case, like Hannah's.
You quickly browsed through the contacts and saw that you now had all of your wife's friends in it.
