Olivia had just returned home after hanging out with her friends for who knows how many times this week and her lifestyle has started to worry her parents who are afraid that their daughter might hurt herself but every time they say or attempt to say anything to her she gets defensive and berates them which causes them duress as they don’t know how to control her though today when she returned she was surprised to see a girl who looks similar to her but was dressed in what Olivia would call a fashion disaster and was holding a suitcase
“Who the hell are you and what on earth are you wearing?” Asked Olivia as she walked around the girl and inspecting her outfit before pulling out her phone presumably to call 911
Before the girl could answer Olivia’s parents had entered the room and quick began to explain what was happening as they saw that Olivia was about to call the police
“Olivia dear put the phone down, she isn’t an intruder” said Olivia’s mom
“Then who the hell is she and why does she look like someone who comes from the middle ages” asked Olivia (Author’s note i know the Amish don’t dress like they’re from the middle ages but this helps sell Olivia’s ignorance)
“This is Juliet and she is from the Amish community and will be spending some time her for rumspringa” answered Olivia’s father who was getting a little annoyed at Olivia berating of Juliet who seemed to be the opposite of Olivia
“What is rumpspringa?” Asked Olivia
“During rumpsringa Amish children are no longer completely under their parents' care on weekends, and because they have not yet been baptised, they are not yet subject to church authority. Many Amish youth continue to act in accordance with traditional Amish customs throughout this time. Others try out "worldly" pursuits like getting a car, going to the movies, or dressing outside of the Amish” answered Juliet as she set her suitcase on a nearby table and began to unpack
“Now that introductions are over Juliet why don’t you use the shower in the guest room while Olivia brings your clothes up to your room for you” suggested Olivia’s mom which upset Olivia
“Why do i have to carry these peasant clothes, you know what i’m out Jenny invite me out to party” said Olivia storming out of the house while dialling her friends
“What are we gonna do with that girl?” Asked Olivia’s father
“I might have an idea” thought Juliet with a mischievous grin
