“Hm, maybe this one…” Ren Amamiya said out loud as he pulled a book off the shelf of the school library and scanned the cover, “Hypnosis for Beginners.”
“You think the school is gonna be fine with that?” Morgana asked from inside his bag.
Principal Kobayakawa had called him into the his office earlier in the year and explained that as part of his probation, he needed to prove that his new learning environment encouraged “less criminal activity” by writing an essay about a new hobby or interest. The problem with that was he couldn’t exactly write about stealing people’s hearts without being accused of not taking his situation seriously. This led him to browse the library for guidance.
“I don’t see why he wouldn’t be okay with it,” the frizzy-haired boy responded, “It falls in line with what he asked for.”
“But why hypnosis?” the not-cat wondered.
“Well, think about it. Stage hypnosis is basically a fancy way of temporarily rewriting someone’s cognition, right? So I’ve kind of got a head start already. Plus, this might help us take better advantage of the Metaverse.”

Someone like Makoto would probably be eager to help him out if he mentioned that it was for a school project, especially considering how often Ryuji has told him that “she’s totally into you, dude!”
Then there was Ann. Much like Makoto, she was single. But she was desired by every boy in the school. She always mentioned how she’d be happy to help Ren out with whatever he needed, especially after all he’s done for her.
There were also girls like Haru and Futaba who sounded like they’d be fun subjects for various other reasons. But why stop there? Ren had other friends outside of his team he could ask too. Ultimately he decided…
