You groggily woke up, and before you could even regain your vision, the first thing you noticed was that it was fairly chilly, as if someone had turned the AC and set it as cold as it could go. Not a bad feeling, as you preferred the cold over heat, but you weren't prepared for it, your summer clothes would only protect you for so long. You rubbed your eyes, and when they regained their focus, you realized you were in an unknown, massive place. It looked like it was made of stone, but everything was so gigantic you had a hard time making sense of anything.
"What the hell..." You muttered in disbelief as you looked around, and then down, you were standing on a white, fluffy and soft kind of surface, it felt like bedding, but it was on such a massive scale you couldn't believe it.
"Oh, you're finally awake... don't worry about Hel, you're not dead..." You heard a booming feminine voice said from above, startling you. You frantically looked around but found nothing.
But before you could say anything in response, a massive structure, or thing came rushing towards you. It took you a moment, but despite your reluctance, there was no denying it, it was a colossal hand, each finger was easily like a skyscraper to you. You felt like this had to be the wildest fever dream ever and turned around, running for your life in zig zag, in an attempt at evading the enormous thing, but it was so large your motions meant nothing, with effortlessly two of her fingers picked you up. Surprisingly enough, they only grabbed you with enough force to keep you secure, though you felt you could instantly get squashed by them.
The sight before you was just as unbelievable as everything before, a gigantic woman's face, with very pale blue skin, icy cold blue eyes, similar to Lynn's, but with a supernatural glow to them, and long white hair, as white as the purest snow. Your heart pounded faster and harder, feeling you were in an extremely dangerous situation, while you tried to find the logic in this whole predicament. You had never done drugs in your life, this made little to no sense. Now that you couldn't move, you couldn't help but notice that this titanic woman's fingers felt cool to the touch, rather than warm.
"You're so tense... Relax, you're in no danger here..." She calmly spoke, giving off a vaguely motherly vibe, and had a kind smile to go with that. You gulped and tried your best at calming yourself down.
"Looks like this is the first time you see a Jötunn... wait... what was it in English again?" She muttered and thought to herself for a moment.
"A giant! Well... a giantess in this case..." she chuckled.
Seeing her act so casually helped you ease up somewhat, but you were still held before her gigantic face by her huge fingers, so you couldn't help but still feel in danger. At least you managed to get some of your nerves under control to avoid being a trembling wreck.
"Uh... I mean, I know a little bit about the frost giants..." You said, as, while looking around, you saw that there were runes carved on the stone walls of this room, which seemed to be a bedroom. And you saw a colossal Viking-looking armor farther away into the distance, so you were starting to piece it together, against your better judgement that there had to be a logical explanation to all of this.
"Ooh! Good, very good! Then you probably know who I am" She smiled again, but before you could ask, she continued
"I am Skadi, a frost giantess as you can see, but also a Goddess, the Goddess of the Winter, of bowhunting, skiing, and of the mountains... Pleased to meet you"
Despite her size, her relaxed voice and kind vibes soothed you some more, and she carefully brought her pinky finger towards you. It was still like a smaller skyscraper, and by the look on her face, you managed to guess it was her equivalent of offering a handshake, so you grabbed it as best as you could with both hands and tried shaking it, also to the best of your ability. Her cute giggle in response meant she was pleased by your answer.
Processing this as you heard it, you couldn't believe it, you were in the presence of an actual Goddess, a Viking one of all possible ones. She seemed to be nice and chill, but you still had no idea why she was so huge and why you were here.
"You're still tense..." She said "Is it because I'm holding you with my fingers?" She asked, but again, before you could reply, she went ahead.
"Then don't worry. Here" She carefully lowered you farther down for what felt like a couple of hundred meters, then dropped you and you landed on a soft, bouncy surface, that was slightly cooler than her fingers.
"There we go. Feel safer?" You heard Skadi speaking from above, and when you looked up, you realized she had dropped you on her chest, just one of her boobs was like a massive mountain in your scale. You blushed furiously and tried hard to cool yourself down as your whole face went beet red.
"Awww" She cooed "I'll take that as a yes" She said, playfully jiggling her chest, which to you was an earthquake that knocked you on your face on the squishy cool surface. Now the temperature made sense at least.
"I can imagine what you're wondering now, so I'll try to answer your questions" She said
"First, yes, this is all real. You can pinch yourself if you don't believe me" She stated that in such a matter-of-factly way you simply didn't question it and just nodded.
"Second... hmm, well, that's a bit trickier to explain... you're not on... what do they call it these days...?" She paused "Earth! You're not quite on Earth anymore... well, not on the part you know... this is, like, another dimension... yeah, that'd be easier to understand... as for the name, we call it the Divine Realm, but almost everybody calls it Heaven, though if you ask me, that's just because that one Middle Eastern Goddess that tried to monopolize the whole thing. I mean, if I wanted I could just call it with the name we Giants and Norse gods knew it by, before we met all the others, but we were trying to reach a compromise so we could all be on the same page..."
It was oddly funny how she kind of ranted, and inadvertently that helped you relax some more. You didn't think someone set upon killing you would act this casual.
"I feel that there are more unanswered questions in that cute little head of yours. How about you ask me yourself? Unless you want me to read your mind?" She giggled and you decided to try and get some proper answers.
"Y-Yeah..." Not the strongest start, but you were facing a goddess that was thousands of times larger than you or more.
"I was wondering, why am I here? If you don't mind me asking..." You said, remembering to stay polite just in case.
"That's a very good question, and fortunately, I can answer it for you" She said and with a wave of one of her hands, she summoned a portal of sorts, that acted like a screen. You turned around to see that it displayed the heirloom spear from Lynn's house.
"That's one of my blessed spears. A gift of mine to a devout family from way back in the day. I personally blessed it as it was made, and taught them runic magic so they could further empower it, and even use some of my power at their command. I carved a few runes myself to make it resistant and to bless the household that possessed it. But they added some other things, they improved its hunting utility, made it even tougher, sharper and deadlier in combat..." She explained, the scenes from the past showing on this 'screen' as she narrated them.
"One of the weirder runes they added though, was what they called a Tribute Rune. For some reason, a couple generations later they came to the conclusion that using the spear or drawing its power had a price, and that they needed to sent someone as a sacrifice to me. Can you believe it? It was a gift! I wasn't asking for anything in return! But then every year or so they'd send someone here... They believed I'd eat them... I mean, I am a giantess, and giants sometimes used to eat people, but not me! I've never eaten anyone, they're like my adopted children"
You still gulped at that mention, however.
"So, I'd just help them calm down, have them do some kind of service so they felt they did their duty to their Goddess and sent them back, but for whatever reason, no matter how many times I told them to stop, they kept sending people..." She sighed "I admit, I was nice with most of those people, they were frightened and more or less forced to it, though a few times they did send bad people... but my hands are clean... Others took care of those bad apples..." She said in a lower tone, looking away.
"Only when the Viking age ended and our worship began to decline is that those so called tributes stopped, and the spear was just kept by the family, occasionally used in war, and then, just kept as a heirloom... So... you inadvertently reactivated the tribute rune, by the way you ran your fingers across them. You see, they had this cool system they made up themselves, they'd activate various abilities of the spear with just their touch, by doing some specific movements or running their fingers or hands across some of the runes in a specific order... And that's why you're here now" She said
"T-Thanks... so... can you send me back?" You asked.
