You looked off into the distance off the south side of the highway. A bit further off you could see what looked to be fence posts from where a wired fence used to be. Some of the wires hanging Limp out to the sides. Extending between the poles was a was a dirt road with massive holes in it. As if it had been unkempt for some time. A very strange detail was the emergency side rode off the edge of the highway was seemingly built right over top of it. You rubbed the back of your head in thought. At the very far end past the posts was the blurred structure of a house. Being an avid media fan, you didn’t need the shadow of sunset or darkness of night to instantly flag it with ‘horror house’ vibes.
He turned and tried to find anything any other solution to the situation. He leaned over the still smog smoking interior to look. Lillian’s bubble butt bounced softly as she was worked. She had unplugged the battery and was checking everything she could get her hands on. “It’s so weird. Your sedans old sure, but… nothing’s jumping out at me as…” Her tone shifted into a joking one all youths use to mock their elders. “I’m sssooo ooolllddd put me out of my misery!” She looked back up at you with a snicker. You simply rolled your eyes and stepped toward the passenger side.
“That’s the second horror trope.” You announced in a joking tone. Jen poked her head out of a window as Lillian moved to join the both of you. “What?” Jen asked in a still uneasy tone, a audible bubbling heard from her stomach. Blaise would pull his phone from his pocket and hold it next to his mouth like a microphone. “First, the unsuspecting victims suffer a mysterious accident that leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere! Second, the protagonist…” You waved your phone in a pointed manner at yourself and wiggled your brow jokingly. “…notices an old dark house of some sort off in the distance.” You pointed with your phone towered the house you saw. You gave time for the two to see the structure and continued when you saw their looks of realization. “Third…” You then lifted your phone to your face and checked the reception. “…the group loses all access to outside communications!” This caused both girls to also check their phones. “No bars.” “Out of range.” The two would mumble back-to-back!
This caused you pause. You had hoped that by pointing out all these tropes you could have caused reality to think about what it was doing and had planned for your group. Make it not go down the potentially dangerous path it signed posted for the past few mins. Jen’s faced dropped into a fearful frown. “Does this mean… this is the part where the monster comes out?” You knew Jen was not a fan of horror movies in the slightest. You and Lillian ended up having to be supports for her the last few Halloweens.

A: You hesitated. Then unsure yourself uttered a “Yes?!” The air remained still for what felt like forever until a harsh voice screamed “BOO!” Both you and Jen screamed while Lillian fell to the asphalt laughing historically. You reached down and shook her shoulder. “That wasn’t funny!” You cried. “Lillian you jerk!” Echoed Jen. Said jolly jerk had to pull her curtain of hair from her eyes as she stood up. She wiped away a few tears and sighed. “Come on guys, ha ha, those are just movies! But Blaise you did do something right. It’s only going to get hotter and hotter sitting here. For better or worst we gotta hung out in the…” She squished her fingers in air quotes. “… ‘murder house’ until we can get some kind of plan.” Jen nodded and stepped out of the passenger seat. She wiped her head with her arm, sweat splashed onto and sizzled against the road. “Maybe the have a phone or at least a fan.” Your group ventures forth with your beach bags towards the lone house.
B: You hesitated. Then unsure yourself uttered a “Yes?!” The air remained still for what felt like forever. A horrible stench slowly filled the air. “JJJeeennn.” Lilian started to whine when you stopped and pointed towards the way you guys came on the highway. You were well versed in body shapes. A figure with absolute massive hips slowly trudged towards you across the asphalt. The heat haze from the road fully distorting any other details. Being down wind, you also knew that is where this new stench was coming from. Your group quickly grabbed what you could from the car and dashed towards the house. Reality had pushed tropes four and five onto you in spite of your snark.
