As Laurie stopped at an intersection, her eyes were drawn to the donut box in the back seat. Lately it had been difficult for her to resist eating. She felt that she should start cutting back before her habit would become problematic. Luckily for Laurie her attention was snapped away from the chocolaty goods when her phone buzzed. She had gotten a text from one of her co-workers, Julie Whebber.
Julie:
Hey! Any change u could pick me up ?
Laurie:
Sure
I'm on my way
Julie:
my car wont start
Thx
Laurie:
no problem
Laurie then got honked at for missing the green light while she was texting. She sunk down a bit in the driver's seat as the person behind her kept honking and consoled herself by grabbing a donut.
As Laurie pulled her car over she saw Julie waiting at her driveway. The dark haired thin Asian woman then stepped into the car. Julie worked at the cubical next to Laurie's and so the two had quickly familiarized themselves when Laurie had started working at the company. They had quickly grown to be good friends and often met up on their off hours. Though there was one thing Laurie wasn't so fond of in this relationship. While Julie was thinner then her, she could pack away much more food then her. And when they were out together Julie rubbed off on Laurie, only enforcing her bad habits.
Laurie thought about getting going to the gym back into her routine. Maybe inviting Julie would be a good idea too, that woman's metabolism wouldn't last forever.
"Oh, you have some donuts. Mind if I have one?" Julie asked. Somehow she had almost immediately spotted the box when she entered the car.
"Go a head." Laurie replied. "Actually, why don't you just have what's left of the box." She decided to push the temptation to someone else, that way she could avoid satisfying her naggin sweet tooth, for now at least.
"You sure? Thanks girl!" Julie said before she went onto enjoy her second breakfast.
The drive to work then continued as normal, though the constant lips-macking of Julie eating next to her was making Laurie feel hungrier. A feeling that annoyed her. "I seriously can't be feeling this hungry so early in the day. I seriously need start cutting back before I start putting on weight."
Once Julie finished the dew donuts Laurie had left in the box she spoke up. "Hey thanks again for coming to pick me up. Mrs Smith has been on my ass lately, so I really couldn't be late again."
"The boss can be quite the bitch sometimes. But seriously no problem." Laurie said back as they were nearing their workplace.
