Chapter #5The Big Book of Bigness by: Ëtalfni   Judy was taken aback by the sight of a large tome in Stephanie's arms, seemingly getting bigger and bigger the closer the giant goat brought it to the counter. Stephanie was already huge and this book was making her look small as she dropped it with a thud. Stephanie then gestured to the side of counter where there was a small series of steps to climb up. Judy took the meaning as Stephanie was offering the bunny to come up to her level and quickly scaled the miniature ladder to take a look. Once up top, Judy could finally get a look at the cover of the novel.
"...The Big Book of Bigness?" Judy asked.
"Yes, ma'am," replied Stephanie as she flipped open the dusty pages. "The book where I get all of my big ideas. How else do you think I got so large myself?"
Judy blushed. She had felt bringing up Stephanie's size might have been a sore subject, but she was being so casual about it that it was becoming harder to ignore.
"You're saying a book is what made you so big?" Judy questioned. "Is it like a special diet book or self help book?"
"Self help book," Stephanie repeated with a chuckle. "This is a spell book, my darling. For spells, enchantments, incantations, and even curses if you're feeling dangerous. Now, let's see here. What would be a good spell to use on you."
The fur on Judy's neck stood up by the way Stephanie had said that. It wasn't that Judy believed in spells or curses, but she almost felt like a toy being played with by a much larger mammal. Standing close, Judy guessed that Stephanie had to be eight to nine feet tall. Compared to Judy's own measly height of barely two feet tall, which was on the small side even compared to other bunnies her age. And on the small side when it came to being a mammal living in the city proper of Zootopia. She had certainly been made to feel small since living in the city, though she had done her best to adjust. Being tiny was just a part of who Judy Hopps was at this point. Never did she consider trying to solve what she thought was just a fact of life. In fact, she couldn't consider it.
"You're kidding me," Judy say with her own slight laugh. "Spells aren't real."
"They are if you know what you're doing," Stephanie said without looking up. "Now let's see here...How to impress your certain friend through embiggening yourself...Ah! How about this? A Mass Redistribution spell! Simply say a few words and we reshape your body into its more desirable form! Turn that tummy into an inch or two of extra height! Or shrink down and give yourself the curves of your dreams."
Judy almost couldn't believe such a spell existed until she read the words for herself on the page. Was this book for real? How on earth could chanting a few magic words cause something like that and why did it work in such a fashion?
"Not good enough?" Stephanie asked when she saw Judy's stunned face. "Let's try something else then. This one is interesting...A Shape Swapper spell! Sketch these runes on your paw and touch another person and the two of you will swap body shapes, like your shadows are exchanging."
Judy tried to imagine who she would even use that on. "I don't..."
"No? How about some enchanting then? Check this out. The Appetite Alteration enchantment. When applied to an article of clothing, any food you eat instead of converting to your body's fat stores will go towards body growth and expansion. You can overeat and become as big as you want to!"
Judy remained silent now, her mind overwhelmed by the possibilities being presented.
"Or if you're feeling dangerous...How about a curse? Say the word and I can hex you with the ability the let your emotions control your size. Feeling up and happy? Gain the size to show it. Feeling down and sad, well, you might find yourself looking a bit on the small side. The Exaggerated Emotions curse!"
Finally, Stephanie turned her attention from the book and smiled Judy's way. Her eyes trailed up and down, like she was sizing Judy up.
"Any of these catch your eye or should I keep looking?" she asked.
Judy swallowed. The giant goat was expecting an answer and something told Judy that she wasn't going to take no. Judy was still having a hard time expecting that magic was even a thing. Yet seeing was believing, and Stephanie the Goat was demonstratively huge. Judy never really thought about it before. Could she stand to get a little bigger and maybe that might catch Nick's eyes?
Judy thought it over for a moment before deciding on...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
