The two, feeling a bit hungry, go to the kitchen to find something to munch on. Making sure her family wouldn't notice Jack, Brigette hid him in her jacket pocket as she entered the kitchen.
"Hey, sweetie, how was your day?" Brigette's mother warmly welcomed. Brigette gave her a small smile and shrugged. "Not too bad, not real eventful but still not bad". Jack could hear Brigette hesitate after uttering this sentence. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Anyways, do we have anything to snack on? I'm kinda hungry" Brigette asked. "Help yourself to whatever you want, Bridge, dinner won't be ready for another few hours" her mom replied. Brigette opened the fridge, but to her dismay, there wasn't much which could be parceled down for Jack. She ultimately decided on an apple and a few other pieces of fruit, then went to her room before her mom called her back to the kitchen.
"What's up? Need something?" Brigette questioned. Her mom smiled. "How's that boy you were talking about, Jack was it?". Hearing this, Brigette blushed and Jack smirked. "Good to know she's thinking about me" he chuckled. "W-well, things are going pretty good, he shr-- uh, is doing pretty well" Brigette corrected herself. Her mom eyed her suspicously and grinned. "Is there something you're hiding from me?". Brigette blushed again. "N-no, no, not at all. Can I go now?".
"Brigette, come on. Have a seat, you can tell me anything" Brigette's mom invited. Brigette sighed, then took a seat. Before talking with her mom, though, Brigette sent a text to Jack, wanting to know if she could show him to her mom. Jack paused for a moment, unsure of whether he should or not. Ultimately, though, he conceded and gave Brigette permission. "So, Bridge, what's going on?". Brigette took Jack out of her pocket and showed him to her mom. "This is Jack. He somehow shrunk and for the time being, is going to be pretty small" she explained. Jack waved and Brigette's mom wa.s in awe. "Hi, Mrs. Betancourt. Pleasure to finally meet you" Jack nervously said.
"Oh, just call me Donna" Brigette's mom warmly smiled. "Anyways, how did you get this small, Jack?". Brigette looked down at Jack with a puzzled look, also curious to know. "W-well, it's something I should probably keep to myself but maybe another time when it's not such a sensitive subject" Jack answered. Brigette and Donna nodded, completely understanding where he was coming from. "Well, you're welcome to stay for dinner, if you want" Donna invited. Jack shrugged and replied "Sure, I think I will. I'll text my mom right now".
"Great to hear! I should get back to monitoring the food then. Unless you wanted to stick around with me? I wouldn't mind getting to know you a little more" Donna grinned. Jack looked at Brigette. "You really don't have to, it's not a big deal. I'm going to hang out in my room, if you wanna tag along".
What does Jack decide to do?
