This choice: Lincoln climbs Cricket's stool. • Go Back...Chapter #10Lincoln climbs Cricket's stool. by: Metalix64 The 1-inch Loud boy stood under the table planning his next move. He looked up at the giant pageant girls and thought carefully about each option that he could take. Climbing up Lola's stool was the first choice that came to mind, but he didn't want to risk upsetting Lola. After all, she could easily mistake him for a bug and try to squash him. Then he looked over at Roxanne's stool and thought that maybe climbing that one wouldn't be a problem either. Unlike Lola, Roxanne didn't seem to house a massive temper, and Lincoln has never heard her scream or freak out over small things.
However, Lincoln knew all too well that looks could be deceiving. Behind that cute smile could be a fury of rage ready to erupt at any moment. That was why Lincoln knew that the best course of action would be to climb up Cricket's stool. She's the most elegant of the three, so she'd be less likely to squish him.
"Okay, here we go!" Lincoln said, taking a deep breath as he prepared to set off on his journey to get Cricket's attention.
Lincoln made his way to the leg of Cricket's stool and leaped onto it. His little hands were able to get a good grip on the wood, and slowly but surely, he began to climb.
After a few minutes, Lincoln reached the top of the stool and was greeted by the massive frame that was Cricket Van Doren. To the minuscule loud boy, the giant girl looked more like a goddess than a small child. She was completely unaware of his presence, as she was enthralled in her conversation with Lola and Roxanne. Lincoln could see Cricket pick up a cookie from her plate. It was huge compared to the diminished Lincoln Loud. What happened next made his blood run cold. The giant pageant girl took a bite from the cookie, easily demolishing it with her giant teeth. Lincoln could hear the sound of Cricket crunching the cookie, which was greatly amplified due to his tiny stature.
Lincoln shook his head violently, trying not to let himself get distracted. He couldn't afford to get distracted. "Keep it together Lincoln! You got this!" he told himself as he walked over to Cricket's blue gown.
The tiny boy grabbed ahold of the fabric and began to pull himself up. Climbing up an inanimate object like a stool was easy enough, but climbing up a real human being was a different story. Lincoln knew that he could be thrown off if he wasn't careful. Cricket was conversing with Lola and Roxanne, slightly moving as she talked to them, making Lincoln's ascent a bit tougher than he originally expected.
Eventually, after a minute or two of climbing, Lincoln was almost at Cricket's shoulder. He stopped for a moment and looked down, his eyes widening at how high he was from the ground. With a deep breath, Lincoln began to inch his way along the side of Cricket's dress and continued to pull himself upwards.
"Almost there!" Lincoln said to himself. He couldn't see Cricket's face from his position but hoped that she wouldn't notice him just yet. At least, not until he was close enough to her ear.
The tiny boy finally made it onto Cricket's shoulder. Right now, he felt safe enough to sit down on her shoulder to catch his breath. The giantess's skin was soft and warm, Lincoln could even feel the heat radiating from her body as he sat there. It was strange sitting on the shoulder of someone who, not even a few minutes ago, was smaller than him.
From here, Lincoln could see Cricket's ear above him. He could try to call out to her from his current position, or he could risk scaling up her long black locks and climb inside her ear. The tiny Loud boy weighed the pros and cons of each option in his mind.
