“Wow, Ethan’s looking hot these days.”
Haley froze dead in her tracks. “Wh-what? W-who? Where?” She looked around frantically, scanning the crowded food court.
“Right there! C’mon, he’s not that hard to miss. Hoo-boy, he’s aged gracefully, to say the least…”
“Wh-where? Goddammit…” Haley was generally not embarrassed by her size. Hell, she honestly didn’t have any problem being as huge as she was, and the occasional broken furniture or tight space really just served to cement the delusion in her that the world was just too small for her, rather than her being too big for it. But when it came to boys, particularly those who’d last seen her at less than a third of her current size, she became infinitely more self-aware at just how much space she took up.
Tara pointed towards the McDonald’s. “Over there, sis. Damn, why the hell did you dump him again?”
“Stop pointing! He’ll see us!” Haley was uncharacteristically panicked, futilely trying to hide behind Tara’s significantly slimmer figure, shrinking down while eyeing her ex-boyfriend (one of them, anyway) as he sat alone at one of the many tables, scrolling through his phone. Haley’s worst fear did in fact come true, as he just so happened to look up and look their way as Tara was pointing directly at him. “Damn it! Nononono…”
Tara smirked. “What’s the problem, Haley? Think he’ll recognize you? Fat chance of that.” She stepped aside, revealing all of Haley in the process, and waved. “Hey, Ethan! C’mere!”
“Tara, what the fuck?” Haley felt infinitely more exposed. God, what was Ethan gonna say to her? Sure, she’d been the one who’d broken it off, but he had to feel like he’d dodged a bullet seeing the size of her ass from the front, right?
Ethan took a second before he stood up and started walking towards the West sisters. His pace noticeably slowed as he got closer, and obviously eyed Haley up and down. Haley couldn’t tell from his expression what exactly he was thinking, but she had a sinking feeling she was right to assume he was far from interested. She averted her eyes in embarrassment, wishing she could die right then and there.
“Uh, hi?” Ethan Haynes, one of Haley’s many high school flings, had decidedly not peaked in high school. He was certainly hot, though not the Adonis Tara was making him out to be. His presence, however, was more than enough to take the breath out of both West sisters.
Tara definitely had the hots for Ethan, even back in high school when Haley had treated him like so many of her disposable flings. She’d been a Senior when he and Haley were Freshmen, but Haley was just so magnetic to guys that they never really gave Tara a second glance when her little sis made her presence known! But if there was ever a chance to both shoot her shot and kick her sister while she was down at the same time…
Tara sucked in her gut as best she could and pushed out her chest, attempting to emphasize her more favorable assets. “Hey, Ethan! ‘Member me?”
Ethan took a few seconds longer to stare at Haley before looking at Tara for the first time. This time, he didn’t seem nearly as…whatever he was in that moment (disgusted? intrigued?), and was more polite. “Um, hi, yeah, you’re…Haley’s sister, right? Tori?” He looked back at Haley again.
“Yeah, that’s right! I mean, it’s ‘Tara’, but that’s okay, I know it’s been a while! I know Haley here’s changed big time!” Tara reached over and pulled Haley close, trying to emphasize just how much bigger Haley was in comparison.
Ethan continued to stare uncomfortably at Haley, but responded. “Y-yeah, it’s, uh, been a while...”
“It’s been forever since I’ve been to mall, I’ve been making a killing at my job in Spartanburg, now I'm just visiting my little sis!" She chuckled. “I mean, younger sis.” Tara gently patted Haley’s bulging gut, and Haley quickly shoved her arm away. “some new clothes! Believe me, this” Tara slapped one of Haley’s giant butt cheeks, eliciting a soft yelp in surprise. “has gotten out of control!”
Haley said nothing, but began to imagine just how she was going to kill Tara later than night. A shotgun was quick and painless, so maybe poison would be better…
Tara filled in the silence left by her awkward banter. “So, what’re you doing here alone?”
Ethan pried his eyes away from Haley once again and came back down to Earth. “Oh, uh, actually…”
