Keeley had really, honestly, and truly just not picked up what Cat had been laying down.
The only reason that she had gone over to Cutie Pie’s in the first place was because Caleb had looked so mopey. He had such a big crush on this Cat girl that she just had to a) see what the fuss was about and b) try to put in a good word for him.
You know, put a little girl talk to good use.
But honestly, she could understand what the fuss was about.
“Oh my gawd you are just the cutest l’il thing!” had been the first words that Cat ever said to her, with the next ones being, “Do you like brownies?”
Cat had, no kidding, walked out from behind the counter that first day and sat with her for a full thirty minutes. Keeley could understand why someone like Caleb, who had never been really popular with the ladies, would be so enamored with her. She was probably just being nice.
But even still, it was Keeley’s job to try and get her boi the hookup.
And plus, you know… she really did like brownies.
They only worked a small walk apart from one another. Pretty soon Cat was coming over to visit Keeley at the Rancor’s Nest, bringing her the “uglies” or whatever she called them. All the while pretty openly not being into comic books or manga or tabletop games.
Like, sheesh, what was she even doing here at a comic book store?
“So tell me about this one?” Cat pointed at a comic on the shelf, “What does he do?”
“That’s Batman, he does like… everything.” Keeley snorted, kicking back with a cookie in one hand and her jorts button in the other, “Oof… that’s better…”
Pretty soon, it became pretty clear that Cat wasn’t interested in Caleb. And that was fine, Keeley guessed. She still thought that they would have made a cute couple. But she still just kept… coming around. Like, for no reason. Had she accidentally made friends with this tall, blonde cupcake queen? Caleb would have been so jealous…
“Haha! Not-Dates. You are so funny, Keeley.” Cat tittered, “I really enjoy our little not-dates though. Here, you got a little…”
Cat licked her thumb and wiped the schmutz from the corner of Keeley’s mouth.
“There you go hun.” She smiled, “Ready for more?”
“You know it.” Keeley said in a husky voice, her eyes watching the chocolate cupcake the minute Cat picked it up, “I love your cupcakes, Kitty Cat…”
“All the girls do.” Cat winked saucily, surely platonically, as she lowered a cupcake into Keeley’s mouth, “After all, what’s better than two cute girls and chocolate? Am I right?”
“I know that’s right…” Keeley’s voice dripped with want for more of Cat’s cuisine, “Just… oogh… lemme digest a little…”
Keeley had known for a good, long while that Cat’s coming over to the shop—and even her apartment!—was the main reason behind her weight gain. She’d been getting fat for some time now, but it was all just so good! And she couldn’t tell Cat that the only reason they were friends was because she was trying to hook her up with Caleb. That’d be so mean…
You’d think that a girl as pretty as her would have had a boyfriend though...
