While Pokémon outside the main land were expressly forbidden from coming to Footprint Island, Ally had manage to convince those in charge to at least let her bring Kat with the explicit promise that he wouldn’t disturb the ecosystem of the island.
Starting their journey proper, Ally and Kat were dropped off near the Crater of the Volcano. Smoke was bellowing out of the open hole, but more importantly it was absolutely nearly deathly hot up here. Ally and Kat started sweating immediately, Ally’s skin and clothes and Kat’s fur respective becoming drenched in sweat as the heat hit every part of their body. Ally could feel the hot rocky ground through her shoes and socks, swearing every time she looked down that she’d find them burned away and see her own feet and black-painted toenails. Kat who was barefoot meanwhile, seemed to be able to take the ground pretty well as some hot gravel and dirt got stuck to their soles.
