This choice: Mero gets a leaf blower or air pump • Go Back...Chapter #5Better, or worse than expected? by: WritingGuy   'Aha! These will work!' Mero thought to herself upon finding a couple of items that were sure to aid her in her quest to enhance her natural flotation devices.
She'd found two helpful aids in her beloved's garage. She hadn't found a leaf blower, though now that she thought about it such a thing probably wouldn't have been a good idea...
'It's difficult enough holding even a bit more oxygen than normal... if I used something like a leaf blower... well, that might be too much for me to hold right now!' Mero might've been a tragedy lover, but that didn't mean that she was a pain lover, and she had no intentions of finding out the hard way if using something as powerful as a leaf blower would've been unsafe.
"I'd better start with something simpler, like this bicycle pump!" Mero stated excitedly, raising the item aloft. The other currently unnamed object remained sitting in her lap as she wheeled herself into her room. After a moment, Mero shucked off her lacy, frilly, gothic lolita dress, leaving her in nothing but waterproof undergarments.
"If my goal is to, well, inflate my swim bladder past it's normal capacity, it's probably for the best that I practice in as little clothes as possible. I don't want to tear my dress, after all! Well... here goes..." Mero stated with a twinge of nervousness in her voice as she sat down on the edge of the large pool that Kimihito's house had been outfitted with.
"I don't need to use this yet. It's probably only safe to use after I've gotten more practice in with the bike pump," Mero remarked, staring down at the second object she'd brought along. The air hose (and attached compressor) was something she could use once she'd trained her swim bladder to safely hold more air with the bike pump. The air hose would be much harder to practice safely with than the bike pump, and the last thing she wanted was to end up in the hospital (or worse) due to rupturing her swim bladder!
"Well... here goes... Mmph!" Mero stated, her words muffled a bit at the end as she inserted the bike pump's tube into her mouth.

"Mmg... Ngg..." Mero's eyes watered slightly at the volume of air she was forcing down her throat, it was much more intense than just trying to naturally fill her swim bladder. But the determined mermaid didn't quit, keeping her arms pumping up and down as she worked the bike pump!

"Ngh... Oom... Ooh..." Mero kept at her efforts, forcing pump after pump of air into her swim bladder, feeling the pressure inside of her body steadily increasing, until at last...
Alas, despite her intentions, her body was calling it quits; her swim bladder apparently unable to hold any more. With training and practice, she could probably keep stretching it. But right now she felt sore, tight, and very bloated. The tube of the bike pump popped out of her mouth, and Mero was barely able to clap a hand to her mouth in time to try and keep the air forced down! Even though the air was in her swim bladder, and not her stomach, the feeling was very similar to really, really needing to burp. The swim bladder's purpose was to store air; and thus expelling it wasn't easy to do unless she was specifically trying to do so.
If a mermaid just up and belched all of the air out while she was underwater, that would've made life quite a bit harder for their species; hence why the swim bladder was so good at keeping air locked inside!
Even if... ow... Even if it was overfilled... Mero winced, putting the hand not covering her mouth (which she was doing more instinctively than out of necessity) on her sore chest.
On one hand, she was glad that she'd been able to inflate her breasts successfully- her swim bladder was puffed up to at least four times it's normal size, which wasn't something she would've thought possible, but love conquered all! Even one's normal body limits, apparently!
Unfortunately, love didn't help with the fact that the poor girl was in quite a lot of pain. Her hugely inflated swim bladder felt like it was squishing against the rest of her chest cavity...
And that wasn't all...
"Ack! O-Oh my goodness! What's happened to my body?!" Mero shrieked as she looked down at her bulging, bloated body. Sure, her breasts appeared to have increased in size thanks to her overinflated swim bladder, but that wasn't all that had increased in size!
Her stomach had swollen up as well, giving Mero a very 'bloated' look, as she was now sporting a big, round belly and a pair of swollen breasts! Her efforts had come with an unexpected side effect- Mero's inflated body now looked like she was halfway through a pregnancy on top of having larger breasts!
"Oh no! This isn't what I wanted at all! I don't want beloved to mistake me for a pufferfish!" Mero whined, prodding her turgid tummy with one hand. The flesh of her belly was smooth and tight, due to the fact that it had been forced outwards by the ballooned-up swim bladder inside. This wasn't good; she'd only wanted to puff up her breasts, not her belly as well!
At this rate, if she kept going, she'd probably only end up pumping herself up like a big, bloated balloon!
