On a nice, sunny day in Echo Creek, the weather was absolutely perfect. It was just the right temperature, not too hot or too cold, and it was the perfect time to go outside and have fun. And that was what Marco Diaz was going to do. He had a date planned with Jackie Lynn Thomas to spend that entire beautiful day together. This was a date that Marco definitely didn't want to mess up as he was currently in his room preparing the right clothes for his date and making himself look good for her.
They had plans to do fun things such as taking a walk in the park, seeing a movie, grabbing a nice lunch, and so much more. Just as Marco was getting himself together, he suddenly got a call on his phone. "Hello?" Marco answered.
"Hey, Marco." Jackie replied on the other line. "You ready for our date today?" She cheerfully asked.
"You bet, Jackie. I can't wait to go to the park, see a movie, and who knows, maybe we can even go to the arcade together too." Marco said.
Jackie chuckled. "Hehe, yeah that sounds awesome. So how soon can you get here?" She asked.
"Don't worry, Jackie. I'll be there in-" *BOOM* Marco began before getting startled by a sudden loud noise from outside his room. "Uh, hang on Jackie. I'll be right back." Marco hung up the phone and looked outside his room to discover the source of the explosion, Star's room. He went to Star's bedroom and opened the door to see Star at her desk with her face covered in soot and various chemicals and assorted ingredients on her desk.
"Hey Marco." Star coughed. "Star, what the heck is going in here?!" Marco asked as Star wiped her face clean.
"Oh yeah. Well, Marco, my mom said I needed to practice in using other forms of magic, not just my wand. So, she sent me this awesome magic chemistry set!" Star explained. "It has the coolest stuff. Now I can make these magical potions for some more fun. Isn't that great?!"
But Marco only sighed at Star's enthusiasm. "Star. Do you have to mess with this stuff now?" Marco complained. "I'm preparing for a big date I'm having with Jackie today, and I really don't have time to deal with another one of your crazy magic hazards that'll probably ruin it for me." Star was slightly hurt by Marco's words and felt her expression turn from enthusiastic to sad.
"Oh, sorry Marco." Star sullenly apologized. "I'll just keep it on the down low for a while."
"Thanks Star." Marco then left Star's room and then the young Mewman princess sighed still feeling hurt from Marco telling her that all she does is mess things up for him. Star looked at her chemistry set and decided to practice once more with it, but quietly to do less damage with Marco listening.
She tried to follow along with her instruction manual like it said, but then, Star decided to improvise a little bit by putting her own choice of ingredients in it. Once she was finished going through the process and stirring it up, Star was left with a light blue potion that was slightly glowing, and she had no idea what it was even capable of.
"Hmm. Okay. Now let's see what this thing can do." Star took her new potion out of her room and was about to test it on one of the potted plants in the house. But then, she heard something coming towards her. It was the group of laser-eyed puppies she conjured up running around in a tizzy around the living room. "No no, puppies! Stop!" Star ordered, but the puppies didn't listen as they ran closer to Star and caused her to start losing her balance while she was still holding onto her potion.
Soon enough, the puppies made Star fall on her belly, while also causing her to lose the potion. She saw the bottle get thrown away and tried to catch it, fortunately, it landed in the kitchen without getting broken. However, unbeknownst to Star, one of the puppies' stray laser-beams shot a small hole in the bottle and caused some of the mixture inside of it to leak out.
As for where the potion went, the hole caused it to fall out of the glass and pour itself into a cup in the kitchen before Star could get it back. "Whew, that was close." Star said.
"Star, I'm coming down now." Marco called from upstairs. Star grew worried and tried to hide her potion from him as she tried to head back upstairs. Marco was about to come down just as Star made it back up.
"Hey, Marco. You look great." Star noted as Marco was dressed in a spring t-shirt and and some light pants with a different hoodie on, one with an open zipper too. "Thanks Star, I was going for a more layback look for my date. Anyway, I better get going. See ya." Marco walked downstairs as Star was left with a look of worry on her face.
But before Marco could leave out the door, he decided to grab a drink first. In the kitchen, Marco grabbed a small glass cup and filled it with water, unaware that this cup held a very small amount of the blue potion that Star accidentally let spill into it. Marco drank the water and then left out the door.
On his way to Jackie's house, however, Marco felt a slight tingling sensation around him, but he shrugged it off as nothing. He tried to ignore this strange feeling he had, but it seemed to grow even more somehow. "Ugh, what's wrong with me?" Marco asked himself. "It's probably nothing. I better keep going."
Marco was only a few yards away from reaching Jackie's house. He kept walking and he was nearly there, but somewhere along the way, he felt that sensation from earlier, only now, it was getting stronger. "What the? What's going on?!" Marco said in worry.
"Gotta make it to Jackie's. Almost there." Marco was right in front of Jackie's house and tried to walk up to the front door quickly. But now, whatever was happening to him was beginning to proceed more rapidly. He felt a little bit dizzy and sweaty as he tried to run up to Jackie's front door, but when got there, he was shocked to see that he was slowly reaching the height of the doorknob, and still decreasing in height.
"What the?!" Marco then looked and realized what was happening to him. "Am I shrinking?!" He said in shock. Marco tried to knock on the door, but then he still felt himself shrinking as his height was almost below the doorknob. Before he became too small, Marco quickly reached as far as he could and rang the doorbell a few times.
"Yes, made it!" He successfully rang Jackie's doorbell which would hopefully alert her to his presence. "Whoa, oh no, OH NO!" Marco yelled as his sudden decrease in size continued and he just kept getting smaller and smaller until he was reduced to at least an inch in height.
"Oh man. Why did this have to happen now?! You've got to kidding me!" Marco complained. He looked ahead to see the colossal door right in front of him and gasped in shock at how small he was compared to it now. "Oh man. This can't be happening! Why me?! What next?!"
Marco soon got his answer as he felt the ground shake out of nowhere. The shaking was growing louder and Marco felt like it was coming closer to him, and then, his worries grew even more once he saw the doorknob above him turning. Then in one second, Marco looked in shock as the gigantic door slowly opened to reveal the massive form of his date.
"Hey, Mar-Marco?" Jackie looked ahead in confusion of seeing no sign of Marco, like she expected. Marco then looked up in awe to see Jackie towering above him. She was like a 100-foot tall goddess wearing a purple t-shirt, blue jeans, brown boots and a flower in her hair.
"Marco, where are you?" Jackie asked looking around. Marco covered his ears as her voice boomed loudly. She then stepped out through the door and Marco jumped out of the way before she could step on him. She looked left and right and saw nobody around, which saddened her a little bit. "Maybe he's running late." She said. At least, that's what she hoped as she turned around to go back inside her house.
Marco saw Jackie coming and then tried to shout up to her to get her attention. But Jackie was still coming for him. He tried to call to her more and more before it was too late.
