Suddenly Ashley got a bit of sadness in her face. Burnet looked at her daughter and got a bit worried.
“Honey what’s wrong?” the mother asked.
Ashley then started explain “You see mom, I did not tell you all the details of my adventures earlier. After the training with Tapu Bulu, we left the Ruins of Abundance, but before the battle with Kahuna Nanu, Rowlet and I found out a little group of 4 young Pikipek that were hurt and so we used the berries that Tapu Bulu gave along with all the things I learned from Nurse Joy during our Pokemon Center experience. After a while the Pikipek felt better enough to fly again” Ashley explained.
Burnet approached her daughter and asked “Well you should be proud of yourself sweety, so why the long face?”
Ashley continued “Well mom you see, after we cured them the Pikipek all started to fly around us in a confuse state, and according to what Acerola told me it’s pretty common for flying pokemon that wanders in the Haina Desert to lose themselves and in a sand storm, and with that we assumed that they lost their flock.”
“That makes sense, so what then?” Burnet asked curious to her daughter.
“You see, since Rowlet is a flying pokemon, the Pikipek looked up to him, and since Rowlet was raised by Toucannon and Trumbeak, I think he thought that he had to help them. So he started to fly up in the sky, showing his flying skills to the Pikipek, but then suddenly, a very strong sand storm arrived and Rowlet almost lost his balance and flew away, but he resisted. As me and Acerola protected the 4 little pokemon, I tried to call Rowlet back in his pokeball but he didn’t want to, determined to show his strength. I never saw Rowlet so determined like in that moment” Ashley explained “And then suddenly, Rowlet started to glow…”
Burnet's eyes widened “You mean Rowlet evolved?” asked surprised.
Ashley proudly responded “Yes he did. He became a Dartrix, and with new strength he fought the wind of the sand storm splendidly, also learning leafblade in the process. After a while the storm ended and so Dartrix returned on the ground, with the Pikipek cheering for Dartrix and all of them looking up to him. So it seemed clear to me that I had a decision to make” And with that Ashley returned a bit sad.
Burnet guessed what happened and asked “You freed Dartrix in order for him to take care of the Pikipek right?”
Ashley nodded “Yes, I explained to Dartrix the importance of this mission, and after seing the happy cheers of the Pikipek, he understood. So after thanking him for all his help and all the beautiful moments together, I recalled him one last time in his pokeball and then freed him. After that he waved me goodbye and flew away with the Pikipek” Ashley concluded with a small tear coming down from her eye.
Burnet then smiled and hugged her daughter, who responded to the hug “I am very proud of you Ashley." Burnet then heard her daughter sobbing softly. Burnet then encouraged her daughter "I know it is sad, but never forget that true friendship lasts forever, even though you cannot always stay together”.
Ashley nodded but tears continued to came down from her eyes. Burnet then continued “You know honey, by helping Rowlet becoming stronger, I think you have become a bit stronger yourself".
After a couple of minutes Ashely and Burnet separated with Ashley cleaning her eyes from the tears “Thanks mom”
Burnet kissed her daughter on her forhead and said "Once again, I am very proud of you".
