The land of Miasmia is a wild, unexplored place whose royalty had long since abandoned it. It's now ruled by small communities and clans, each trying to survive against the incoming demonic invasion and the uncertain future brought about by Astrean involvement. You can choose from one of the many inhabitants of this strange and dangerous nation to follow on their adventures:
Kless Dusktalon: The Explorer
Kless was once a lithe, nimble male raven who explored the long-abandoned ruins of Miasmian civilization, until he discovered something he was not meant to see: The crown of Queen Aiarrac, supreme leader of his ancestors. For the crime of disturbing his people's more valuable and sacred treasure, Kless was cursed to transform into a fat, pregnant hen. However, even with her new, inconvenient body, Kless' lust for adventure did not diminish, and she kept roaming the land in search of more treasures (perhaps ones that can cure her curse) even as demons began to invade.
Rixl: The Old King
Rixl was once a dragon lord, who ruled over a large portion of Miasmia and married a Fey unicorn princess by the name of Glisten. However, after 100 years of the marriage, Rixl grew bored of it, like dragons do, and cheated on his wife with one of his kobold servants. Glisten was of course insulted by this, and cursed Rixl with a rune placed on his belly, that causes his gut to swell up and grow heavier every time something solid touches it, before she wiped all memories of her from Rixl's mind to prevent him from seeking revenge. Rixl, being already quite fat from his life as a dragon king, could not even walk without his cursed rune touching the ground. Eventually, he fled from his castle to live in a secluded swamp, swimming in its murky waters to avoid triggering his curse, where he remained until the demonic invasion.
Rathlis: The Eternal Mother
Rathlis was Rixl's sister, but instead of ruling a mass of land, she ruled a series of tunnel beneath a towering mountain and had an army of kobolds at her service. However, she wasn't the first to have this idea, and soon, she found herself in a territorial conflict against a snake sorceress by the name of Ekha. The battle lasted for several days, and eventually ended with Ekha sneaking into Rathlis' lair, disguised as a fly, and casting a curse upon the dragoness that caused her to be eternally pregnant with an amount of eggs equal to all of Ekha's minions who were lost in their battles. Despite that, however, Rathlis held strong onto her small underground kingdom, and she trained her kobolds in secret, hoping to fight against her serpentine rival again, or perhaps invade the world above.
Ekha Slitherfang: The Sorceress
Ekha was once a normal anthro snake living in Miasmia, barely scraping by as she moved from clan to clan, seeking acceptance but never getting any due to her weakness. One day, however, Ekha discovered the legendary Fountain of Youth within a deep cavern, and drinking from it, she gained eternal life and magical powers. Converting that very cave into a trap for wannabe adventurers, Ekha began to train in the arts of transformation magic, aiming to capture any foolish travelers who stumble into her lair and morph them into monsters under her command.
