Ever since the incident at Relay Station 47 with the coalescent lifefirm, Starfleet had begun updating the various stations to include a larger crew complement of four.
Prior to this upgrade program, Relay Station 6, a little less than a light year away from Risa, already had a four crew complement. But Relay Station 6 was both a major sub space hub and an resource pool for the other relay stations in its hub. After the upgrade, Relay Station required a ten man crew, had two shuttles and a runabout, as well as an industrial grade replicator.
Relay Station 6 had earned the nickname Retirement Station 6 due to its nearness to Risa and the fact that those stationed there were senior communications specialists who invariably made Relay Station 6 their last posting before retiring.
Personnel at Relay Station 6 could be called on to help repair or provide temporary relief for other stations in their hub network, but they were the furthest thing from a frontier station you could get. It was considered a “cush” posting for someone in the last years of their career.
Now Relay Station 6 was reporting itself under attack by a mysterious ship, something no one expected this deep in Federation space.
The Captain ordered the Lamarr to enter warp as soon as you walk onto the bridge. But even with the ship’s engines being redlined, it will take the Lamarr two hours to reach Relay Station 6.
