This choice: You randomly start to shrink! • Go Back...Chapter #4Downsized by: Ninten   "Uh, nah... I got... stuff planned," you reply, quickly trying to think of some excuse.
"Riiiight, sure ya do bud. What kinda plans?" Hilda crossed her arms and gave you an annoyed look. Clearly she seemed a bit hurt you were trying to avoid spending time with her.
"Ya know... I gotta check out some clubs... Kinda sucks just doing nothing after classes every day. Feels like I need some kind of extracurricular activity."
Hilda furrowed her brow, clearly not buying your response. "You seemed just as uninterested in all the clubs as I did. Fine, whatever. Didn't really wanna hang that much anyways..." she said, a bit dejected.
"Great, now I feel like an asshole," you think. It's not that you didn't like Hilda, it's just after getting unintentionally rejected by Rosa so many times, you felt like you needed to expand your circle a bit. And Hilda could be a bit... blunt sometimes.
"Well uh, we can still hang out later if you really want," your halfhearted attempt at trying to mend the situation just made you look dumber in Hilda's eyes.
Taking pity on your lackluster enthusiasm towards her, Hilda gives you a smile and pats you on the shoulder. "Sure, I'll think about it. Text ya later 'k? Lemme know what club you decide to join." Hilda gives you a casual wave as she walks to study hall, leaving you alone in the hallway.
You breathe a sigh of relief, happy that Hilda didn't dig into you further. But also mad at yourself for fumbling two female friendships in one morning. "What else could possibly go wrong?"
Just as you mumbled those words, something else possibly went wrong. A blink of your eyes later and the hallway seemed slightly larger. Then after another blink, it grew around you once more. Another blink, and still more shrinking.
"What is happening!?"
After every blink, you lost nearly an inch off your height. The feeling was incredibly disorienting, and you worried you were going to shrink away into nothing. You held your eyes open for as long as you could, but they eventually dried out, and you had to blink. When you opened your eyes again, you dropped below five feet, then four, then three, two, and finally under one foot tall.
When the shrinking stopped, you were just about two inches tall. Thanking the heavens you didn't dwindle away into nothing, you looked around at your new problem. What the hell were you going to do now??
Finding help was first on the list, and luckily, someone walked out of the room right next to you. Who was it!?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
