Matt paced around his cell for hours, wondering what was going to happen. He was terrified and didn't know if escape was even possible. Matt continued to walk around his cell, wondering what was going on outside the lab and if someone would ever come looking for them. Matt was sure that his parents would be worried sick, though so would his friend's parents. They'd been gone for almost four days now. If Matt hadn't gone out with his friends that day, things would be different. Though it wasn't like it made any difference now. Matt couldn't turn back the clock.
The cell was dark except for a single square of moonlight coming through the small window opposite the door. There was a single cot in one corner while a toilet occupied another. Otherwise, the cell was empty. Matt began to pace again despite being exhausted, wondering what would become of them.
The day Matt and his friends, Trevor, Jack, and John, went into the forest to explore as they had many times before. When they were out in the woods, they stumbled upon something they never expected to see. Hidden deep in the forest was a strange lab filled with unfamiliar equipment. The group didn't have a chance to run as several large men in black ambushed them and quickly subdued them before locking them in a cell.
After that, some scientists had injected them with something before throwing them back into a cell. The four of them had been left alone in the cell for the rest of the day, and it wasn't until the following morning that someone came back with food for them. Shortly after that, they had been separated and taken to different cells. Matt hadn't seen his friends since then. He hoped they were all right. He didn't want to lose his friends to whatever this was.
However, that wasn't his only concern anymore. After the first day alone, Matt's body had begun to feel strange, convincing him that something was happening. Matt couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he felt odd. It felt like part of him was missing, and it was slowly driving Matt crazy.
His chest felt strange. Matt tried to focus on how his insides were feeling but couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. He grunted in frustration and quickly put his shirt on, and began to pace again.
Matt became less worried about what was going on around him and became more focused on what was going on inside himself. Something felt strange, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. However, the feeling was growing increasingly more assertive, demanding more and more of his attention. Still, there might be a way to escape, but it might be better to get some sleep and attack this problem once his mind was more rested.
