In another parallel universe:
Tracing lost magic and spells is a profession, although few people practice it. Half of the magic here relies on different magical instruments, and some of the others are spells from ancient civilizations, but all of them are almost extinct.

However, a biological company has some of the magical instruments, which they use to study human transformation, and one of the departments is mainly engaged in the study of "fusion and sharing".
This department is divided into two parts, one of which is open to the public for volunteers, and the public can accept its existence.
The other part is secret, they create huge simulated space for their secret research, similar to the story of "Moving Labyrinth" or "Under the Dome", and there are even rumors that they have powerful magic, which can send the experimental subjects to different time or space.
