Lady Kanyatvam is an unusual Roman noblewoman. She is the eldest daughter of a client king to Rome, whose kingdom lies in Asia Minor on the eastern Roman border. She was raised in the warrior tradition, with her evenings filled with tales of great and heroic deeds.
At age eighteen, her father, at the "suggestion" of the local Roman military governor, shipped her o off to Rome to marry a wealthy, elderly Senator. But as Fortuna would have it, Lady Kanyatvam became a widow even before her marriage could be consummated. She is now a woman with great wealth and no responsibility.
Lady Kanyatvam has converted part of the grounds of the villa she inherited to facilities to continue her training as a warrior. With the finest instructors in Rome available, she has become more skilled as a warrior than she could ever hoped to be back home.
But training to be an adventureress is not enough for Lady Kanyatvam. She wants to live a life of adventure, like all the stories she heard growing up.
