(Pokemon pred, near vore)
Assessing your options for a moment, you realize that there really is only one way forward. You dove into the water, there would be no point returning back the way you came and even if you wanted, the journey back ashore would be difficulty. The sandy islands off in the distance, on the other hand, are far more accessible and could serve as viable waypoints on your trip south to Cinnibar. You briefly consider diving below the waves, but who knows what lurks beneath?
And so you swim your way forward across the seawater, fighting salty wave after salty wave as you advance. Your progress along the route is slow, but at least you make good headway. You make your way along the surface of the sea getting more than a few mouthfulls of saltwater as you try to make your way southward. Eventually, you manage to make your way roughly halfway between the first few sandy islands Already, you can see a beautiful young woman clad in a bikini sunbathing upon one of them. Evidently at least one of the islands is taken. And the other one, just a bit farther off, is seemingly abandoned. Who knows what goods could await on it!
But by now, you're feeling pretty tired. And the environment isn't helping at all. The shifting salty water and exposure to midday heat without any hope of cover make the journey all the more strenuous. You will need to rest on land at some point, there's no way around it...otherwise there will come a point where your fatigue will not allow you to outfight the waves, and then a watery grave, or perhaps a trip into a fish's belly, would surely await.
As you near the islands, you catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of your vision . You continue towards the sand islands before turning your attention eastward, no longer able to avert your gaze. It doesn't take you long to figure out what it is . A Flying type Pokemon headed your way, and not a particularly little one, either. It's a Pelipper...a predator that gets its diet off of scooping fish right out of the sea....and one that probably wouldn't be too picky about what sort of morsel it claims as its meal. For a moment you think that you might be able to avoid an encounter with the pelican Pokemon...until you see it adjust its course towards your direction and begin to descend. Curses! Staying surfaced so long must have made it all too easy to spot your form Now what are you going to do?
You're going to swim like your life depends on it. because it probably does. You desperately splash your way towards the island, turning your gaze eastward to track e descending beast between strokes. You feel a pit in your stomach as you see it quickly adjust its heading You won't be able to evade it so easily. Now with more immediate concerns than getting onto solid ground, you reverse course and head back to Pallet town, trying to swim alongside the waves. The Pelipper continues to adjust its trajectory and is now getting quite close to your position. Realizing that you simply lack the mobility to evade the aven predator, you frieze up for a moment before desperately swimming away from it anyway.
By now the Pelipper has crossed the barriers at the edge of the route. Its body glides just over the water and its beak opens wide, the lower end cutting across the sea and pushing aside frothy waves of water in either direction. You frantically exert yourself in an attempt to swim your way to freedom, but all you can do is prolong the inevitable. The Pelipper descends enough to allow its beak to take in water, clearly confident that a successful capture is just moments away . Realizing there's no way to outrun the encroaching threat, you dive down and try your best to get beneath its mouth. You swim straight down, desperately trying to avoid the incoming wall-width maw.
A powerful current sweeps you up, and everything grows dark. THWONK. For a brief moment you convince yourself that you might merely be underwater, but as you surface and find yourself still in relative darkness, you realize exactly what has happened. The sounds of wings beating against the air and the yucky scents one might expect from a seabird make it all too clear what has happened. The Pelipper has you trapped in its maw! You scream in terror and beg the bird for mercy as you feel your body slosh about in the small pool of water the Pelipper has gulped up. All the while, you hear the muffled sounds of wingbeats coming from outside the Pelipper's maw...right. The Pelipper isn't going to wait in place just on account of you . It might be moments away from flying off or, worse, gulping you...
