"Y'know there's no way I can pay for this stuff, dude..." said Eric, "That drink was half my weekly allowance!"
"Chill bruh, I'll pay for it", said Flavius. "What's the point of bein' buddies with ME...when you can't even get any perks out of it, right?"
Eric blushed and Dylan laughed.
"So where do you go to school?" Eric asked.
"Helmsford Elementary".
"Hey! Me too! How come I ain't seen you there?"
"We only moved here six months ago", said Dylan, "I'm starting in the next term".
"Cool!" said Eric, "Perhaps we'll be in the...Flavius?"
But Flavius had stopped talking. Indeed, he'd stopped even paying attention. His eyes were focused on a young mother sitting in a booth with two little boys. One was eating a large blueberry muffin while the other was chomping on his chocolate-chip cookie.
"Fla--" Eric began, but Flavius held up a hand to silence him. The boy with the cookie started choking!
"Momma!" said the other boy, "Isaac..."
"Huh? Oh! Honey!"
The young lady grabbed the boy and started thumping him on the back! The boys, who couldn't have been older than two or three, looked like identical twins.
"Isaac!" she gasped, "Help! My baby's choking!"
Flavius got to his feet and stepped forwards. He grabbed the boy before the mother could protest and started trying to do the Heimlich maneuver, but nothing seemed to work!
"C'mon!" Flavius grunted. "MOVE!" but no matter ho hard he squeezed, nothing seemed to make any difference! Getting frustrated, Flavius threw the boy into the air! A few people screamed and by now, everybody was staring. Flavius waved a hand and a blinding flash of golden light hit the toddler in mid-air! It sent him hurling across the cafe, and slamming into a pillar! The force made the boy start and cough! A chunk of cookie flew out of his mouth! The boy squeaked and fell to the ground, but Flavius caught him just before he hit the floor.
"There you go, Isaac!" he said, and gave him a kiss, "C'mon now, back to mommy!"
"Oh God!" said the woman, hurrying over and scooping up her baby boy, "Thank you!"
"No problem", said Flavius, and gave off one of his trademark, arrogant smirks. "Just perhaps make sure he takes smaller bites, huh Isaac?"
The toddler nodded firmly.
"Attaboy..."
"Thank you!" said the mother, and Flavius bowed to kiss her hand. She blushed deeply.
"Isaac, what do you say?"
"Thankoo Lawd Favvawuz!"
"Awwww...that's alright lil' dude", said Flavius, and ruffled the boy's hair. "You be good for mommy now..."
