In a small apartment in Paris Cassandra Cain was sitting at a table, waiting for her girlfriend to return. The two girls were in Paris undercover looking into a criminal syndicate that had popped up in Gotham, which originated in the city of love.
The operation had been going well, they'd made contact, they were earning the syndicate's trust, within a few weeks they'd be in good, a few more weeks and they'd have everything Bruce would need to take the syndicate down.
And then it all went wrong. Not wanting to have anything traceable the girls kept most of the money Bruce had given them to live on while undercover in their apartment, with only the money from the waitressing jobs they had taken in the accounts their fake identities had. Yesterday, they had returned home to find the apartment trashed, and all that money gone.
Now they were in a bind, the waitressing job wasn't paying enough for them to live on, and they were being watched too closely for Bruce to send them more money. So Steph was out to find a way to make more money, hopefully one that didn't involve them stripping or standing on a street corner.
"I'm back!" Steph exclaimed.
"Did you find us jobs?" Cass asked, getting up to embrace her girlfriend.
"Better." She pulled out a pamphlet.
"Urban Produce?" Cass read.
"They give us seeds, an allowance to care for our own little private farm, and we can sell the excess. They're even gonna give us animals." Steph said
"Animals?" Cass asked.
"Yeah, it says we'll be given the means to produce milk and eggs." Steph said. "It's better than two waitresses with no references or qualifications are gonna get in the job market."
"Okay." Cass nodded. "Let's do it."

The next evening a package arrived. To their confusion, along with packets of seeds, instead of animals or supplies to raise cattle, there were two bottles, one with a picture of an egg, and one with a picture of a glass of milk.
"Okay, according to the helpline they are to help us with producing the eggs and the milk." Steph explained putting down the bottle.
"So we give it to the animals when they arrive." Cass asked.
"No, apparently we take it, I guess it's some sort of vitamin thing to adjust our body clocks to better tend to the animals, which will be here tomorrow." Steph nodded.
"Tomorrow?" Cass asked.
"That's what she said, we'll be ready to start making eggs and milk tomorrow." Steph replied. "The only question is who takes what?" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
