"They will soon be hung," the lizardman said. "After that, her body will be returned to her family if possible. If not, I'll be back here enjoying elf breast, ass, and everything else."
"To be honest, I'm surprised that you're still treating humans as people," said Galiana.
"Keep in mind, there are certain other races their size," the lizardman said. "Also, the Commander's a human woman, and everyone of the guards respects her - some she hired because no one else would hire them, and gave them a chance. After the Shrinking, there was a group of rioters that tried to take over, by heading to the city hall. She looked at the non-human guards and said, 'You're either a Guard, or just someone with a metal item, armor, and a weapon. Which are you?' Everyone of us said, 'Guards, Ma'am!'. We put a stop to the riot. Luckily, there had been no deaths or real injuries, because the Commander asked them a big question - 'Which of you wants to run this city, make sure that goods get from point A to point B, taxes are raised and paid, deal with the crime that does exist, will exist, and other things too numerous to list?' They must have thought long and hard, because those rioters went back to their homes. Haven't had any real issues since then."
"So, why does everyone seem to own humans then?" Galiana asked.
"Non-humans would invite their human friends to stay with them, especially if they were co-workers or something," the lizardfolk said. "By the way, name's Greege Greenscales. Yours?"
"Galiana. Kind of traveling at the moment."
"Well, let me give you a piece of advice," said Greege. "Buy an actual traveling container to carry that human friend of yours around."
"What human friend?" Galiana asked.
"You got a necklace you're not flashing around," Greege said. "Also, this nose knows the scent of a human. I'm guessing that he's more than just a pet or slave if you're trying to hide him from others. Stop hiding him, and show him to me."
Galiana carefully pulled the jewel out, and opened it, letting Nick out.
Greege looked him over. "I can see why you used that hollowed out gem. Still, he'll be more comfortable in a carrying case. We also have some that you can still hide, if you want to do that."
"Um, thank you," said Galiana.
Greege got out some paper, and wrote the information down. "Here's good store for anything he might need. Also, here's a nice in for both of you."
"Thanks," said Galiana.
"If you go to the hanging, don't do anything foolish, unless you want to join them with a noose around your neck," said Greege. "Hanging will be in the morning."
"Thank you," said Galiana.
