Sorry, this must be a little confusing for you. But it's pretty simple to explain;
Mikayla had already been fat. Brooke just inadvertently made her fatter. It wasn't her fault that Mikayla had been well on her way to chunkytown before all of this happened. Honest, it wasn't. What happened afterward might be up for some debate, of course. But Mikayla's initial weight problem was all her.
But, uh... just for clarification... why was Mikayla already fat?
Mikayla spent a Summer with her Aunt April down in Spartanburg...
For one reason or another, before their parents moved out, Mikayla thought that she could live with their Aunt April to get a taste of independence. What she got was a taste of pretty much everything but independence.
Aunty April is one of those Southern mamas who shows affection with food. And boy, would it be an understatement to say that Mikayla was her favorite niece. Mikayla was supposed to be enjoying her life in a new area, making new friends and seeing new sights, but all she really wound up doing was vegging out on the couch while her aunt cooked for her and her cousins, Haley and Tara.
Mikayla probably put on thirty pounds that Summer, and that's before Brooke made her sister fat...
Mikayla had gotten a different job instead of the Bean Machine...
The Bean Machine? They don't have one of those where the Widers live! Instead they've got something called Cutie Pie's - a chain bakery (they have those?) that specializes in rich, creamy desserts.
Mikayla had been working there since Sophomore year of college for spending money, and was now working on her third year as a cashier with no promotion. Her co-workers Leni and Jim aren't exactly the best influences either. Working there was a sure-fire way to make sure that Mikayla put whatever weight she lost back in her teenaged years back on with a vengeance.
Mikayla's probably put on fifty pounds since she started working there; she and Brooke share clothes now and then when they're feeling nice...
Mikayla took a year off to "find herself" and she's still playing catch-up...
Mikayla's actually still in school, believe it or not. She thought that after an especially rough Freshman year, it'd be good for her to take a "year off"... whatever that means.
Actually, Brooke knew exactly what it meant. Mikayla got to lay around for a year and not do anything. God, why did her parents always give her preferrential treatment? In addition to the thirty pounds she put on from drinking with her friends, she's only gotten bigger since she realized that college was hard. And Brooke can't yell at her to get a job because she's always busy at school... ugh! It's just not fair! Why does she have to be the responsible one all the time?
Mikayla probably outweighs Brooke by a good twenty pounds now, and that's before Brooke got her revenge...
Mikayla never grew out of her "chubby phase"...
Honestly, Mikayla's always been pretty big. Like most of the Wider women, she tended to be kind of heavy on the outset. But what started as something that they told her to make her feel better had quickly become an excuse. Without their parents casually reminding her to watch what she eats, Mikayla's been ballooning lately.
Growing up, Mikayla had never really been an active person. She was far more content to catch Pokemon than butterflies, and when all of her friends would hang out outside, she was perfectly content to stay indoors eating ice cream sandwiches. She was probably the only girl in her Freshman class to weigh more than two hundred pounds, and Mikayla only got bigger from there. She might not be quite as confident as she might have been if she'd lost the weight, but Mikayla's never really minded her extra poundage—not when it comes with having huge knockers that she can lord over her skinnier big sister.
Mikayla actually outweighs Brooke by a solid hundred pounds at least, and that's before her big sister decided to teach her a lesson about watching what she eats...
