The Illursians are an insectoid race of aliens who only barely fit the definition of humanoid. They look enough like a human, although instead of skin they have an exoskeleton, on the ends of their arms are long foldable blades beneath their hands, and they have four legs that end in sharp points capable of cutting even wood. Their unisexual and their bodies resemble the shapes of human females, but the breast-like bulges on their chests are in fact venom sacks, not mamarries, filled with venom that they can spit out at enemies. Their faces look like a human female's too, aside from the red eyes and the fact that instead of teeth they have two spiked bone structures on the tops of their mouths and the tops of their jaws, similar to what the Dunkleosteus of earth had.
The home planet of the illursians has never been discovered, and most interviewed illursian pirates believe it was either lost or never existed in the first place. Many experts believe that it was destroyed, forcing he illursians to adopt a nomadic spacefaring lifestyle (ex. despite illursians being able to have dozens of children at once, most opt not to bear children to preserve resources), or they simply evolved to survive in space and they never had a home planet to begin with.
In addition to the fearsome biology of these creatures and their mysterious origins, Illursians are entirely involved in piracy, earning them the title of "the pirate race." They're infamous throughout the galaxy for boarding and raiding freighters, passenger vessels, and on rare occasion military ships. Many empires even hire these pirates as mercenaries to raid their enemies and buy any technology that they manage to capture. These are by far one of the hardiest races in the galaxy.
