"Neil Sputnik. Star log entry 43.
Currently, I am onboard the UNH Stellar, on the landing craft, class TL-72. I'll be sent down on unexplored planet Tessler 5c. Atmosphere is near perfect for human habitation. Life is abundant on the moon. Intelligent life however, well that's what I'm here to find.
End log."
You loved making logs like that. Made you feel like you were making history, aside from being an explorer, expanding the reach of humanity into the endless void of space. The planet below was a moon of a gas giant. Its temperature was lower than earth but it had just enough water and a thick enough atmosphere to make it livable, according to the scans. Now it was up to you to explore the moon to determine if its fit for human habitation. It was a dangerous job, as you don't know what dangers you'll face (alien predators, deadly flora, hostile natives). But that was part of the job and what made it exciting.
