It's been three days since the humans took over the farm. Matthew, having been the mastermind behind the rebellion, was basically elected as leader by the others. It had snowed lightly the night of the Wolfe's exodus, but it was nothing to really be concerned about right now. Already Matthew was advancing his plans to expand his operation.
The morning after the revolution, He and his comrades announced that they no longer needed to live in fear of being eaten. Most of the remaining flock were estatic to hear this, especially the younger ones. Turns out, John and the Wolfes had underestimated Matthew's abilities.
Matthew hadbeen born free, growing up hunting and fishing alongside his father to survive when they had been captured by slavers and sold at an auction. Matthew was able to give several of his followers a crash course on fishing by throwing nets into the lake on the farm's property, as well as how to properly slaughter captured animals for food.
So far, food wasn't too much of a concern. However, that didn't mean everything was perfect. There was a handful of humans that decided not to stick around, not trusting Matthew's judgement and fled into the wild. Matthew wasn't going to bother chasing them. If they'd rather risk it in the wilderness, that was their choice.
Matthew and his circle of advisors, so to speak, stayed in the farmhouse. He sat in the living room in Robert's favorite reclining chair, deep in thought. He was thinking of sending out a raid party to the farm down the road, to free the humans there and aquire more supplies, when one of his scouts reported in, carrying a piece of paper with a message written on it.
Matthew,
We will be staying at the Bridgeview Motel about five miles east of the farm. Whenever you're ready to surrender, you know where we'll be. Come in person and unarmed. If you are truly remorseful for what you have done, perhaps I will not punish you as harshly.
Matthew laughed. That overgrown lapdog actually thought he was going to surrender? At the rate that things were going, they could probably takeover the whole county if they so desired! Matthew crumpled up the message and threw it in the garbage. Surrender and return the farm? We'll just see about that!, He thought.
