Chapter #8

A week later

by: Johnny Foxx Author IconMail Icon
Things went on as normal for the following week at the farm. Meanwhile, there was a global manhunt for these so called "Liberators" and anyone with ties to them. But whoever they were, they were metaphorically a total ghost. No trace of them, much less their leader could be found.

Then, exactly one week after the city hall bombings, all hell broke loose. Across the country, TV and radio signals were hijacked, broadcasting this message. "We warned you that the bombings were only the beginning. And you ignored us. Now, all non humans will suffer, as we have for so long. At this very moment, we have released a special gas of our own design into the air, which will have devastating effects on any werewolf or vampire it comes in contact with. Humans, however, will be completely uneffected.

The gas is colorless, tasteless and odorless, making it nigh impossible to detect. Within a month's time, the entire country will feel it's effect. Within six months, the whole planet. If the leaders of the world wish to save their people, they must declare all humans as equals to werewolves and vampires, and not as slaves or a food source. Only then, will the antidote be released. If our demand are not met, then it's only a matter of time before the likes of werewolves and vampires go extinct from this world. The choice is yours."

At first, everyone assumed it was a elaborate hoax, but then, the symptoms began to appear. Werewolves fur rapidly falling out, open bloody sores all over the body, and in the case of vampires, dwindling resistance to sunlight. Even the slightest bit of sunshine caused severe burns. As well as vomiting and loss of sight before eventually, death.

It wasn't long before hospitals became over crowded, but as promised, not a single human was among the patients. It's been three weeks since the beginning of the plague, and the wolfes, being out in the country have so far been uneffected. For now...
