When translating a work to a new medium, there are certain considerations that are perpetually at play. Different mediums have different standards for how stories are meant to be told, whether it be runtime, means of communication, or reliance on visual verses auditory stimuli. Oftentimes, certain liberties have to be taken in order to fit the work into the new medium, whether it be synthesizing originally disparate elements into one cohesive whole, or even excising certain portions of the story all together.
When one element of a story is changed, oftentimes the entire work has to be drastically changed in order to account for the new variable. You can imagine then, that if we took the main three party members of Earthbound Beginnings and made it such that they were, say, bigger than a house, or possibly even more than that, that would lead to a radically different story. However, at the end of the day, it is the sworn duty of the adaptor to ensure that the substance of the work is faithfully preserved, no matter how many adjustments have to be made.
