A Seaside Encounter

by: Homer J Simpson Author IconMail Icon
Returning from her swim, Elizabeth grabbed her things and started walking away from the group. Curious about what she was doing, I ran up to her and said, “Where are you going, Elizabeth? We are right here.”

“Grab your things; I’m finding us a quiet spot to work on our tans. Besides, we might have more luck with guys if we’re away from my brother.”

Unsure what to do, I grabbed my things and followed Elizabeth to a spot about 30 feet away. She was already sitting on her towel when I got there, applying something to her skin. Looking at her, I said, “I was under the impression that ultraviolet radiation was harmful to a person’s skin. Why would you intentionally expose yourself to it?”

Looking up at me, Elizabeth said, “Because it’s also relaxing, Bridget. Now sit down and lather up; I don’t want my folks blaming me if your skin gets damaged.”

Perhaps an hour later, Elizabeth and I were lying on our stomachs with our bikini tops untied. We were talking about my evolving emotions and my sudden interest in boys. “I’ve got to know, Bridget. Are you attracted to boys in the same way that I am?”

“I’m not sure how to answer that, Elizabeth.”

"Well, I can see a lot of guys here that I'd like to get to know a lot better. Do you feel that way about all the boys - even Lance?"

Brushing a strand of hair from my eyes, I said, “No, I'm not attracted to every boy. And, for whatever reason, I have no such interest in Lance.”

“You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that,” Elizabeth responded with a smile. “But if you’re truly serious about showing an interest in boys, I can help you go about it the right way. The last thing you want is to gain a reputation as a slut.”

“You’re right; I wouldn’t want to be seen as a slut.”

The two of us went back to focusing on our tans. That lasted 10 minutes before a boy about the same height as Lance approached us. He focused his gaze on me. “I don’t normally do this, because I get nervous around girls. But you’re about the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen, and I was wondering if you’d like to get some ice cream at the concession stand?”

Elizabeth and I looked at each other; neither of us had expected this.

Taking a moment to simulate a breath, I _______.
