Timmy had never seen another member of his sex. Living in a forest with his mom his entire life, he only saw other people one or two times per month, and from far away. They were all women, never a man or boy. Despite only having his mother as a company, he never felt lonely, his mother made sure to provide not only food but also company and education, his life was happy, and he never wished it to be different...
Lisa loved her son, she loved Timmy more than anything. Once the news about men and boys dying in one week after a weird disease came up, she was petrified. At 8 months pregnant with a boy and fearing for her son's life, she did the most rational thing, ran into the woods, trying to keep her son as isolated and safe as possibly. Three weeks after he was born, she thought this was meaningless since he caught the virus from out of nowhere...
The YK-8 symptoms would always be the same, the man would have a fever and some coughs, and when his skin started to turn blue, he only had 1 to 4 days left. No survivors, the diagnosis was always a death sentence...
As a newborn, Timmy started with coughs and fever and then, the blue came up on the third day. Lisa cried with him on their bed in their wooden hut for three days as he fought to take every breath. She was almost saying her goodbyes for her little boy when, on the morning of the fourth day, after his worst night, his skin began to turn into his old pink colour again and by the night he was already eating normally, after one week from his first coughs, Timmy was cured!
The first thing Lisa thought was to tell the government, her son would be a hero, the saviour of mankind! But, as she heard the news on the old radio about the chaos in her country, the US, and the entire world, she decided to wait until things stabilize, but when they did, three years after, she noticed just how much the world changed and she feared for her little boy...
The United Nations flag changed, instead of blue it became pink, and then, red, with the Venus Mirror in the centre. Russia took over Ukraine and China invaded Taiwan, after dethroning the US as the world's greatest superpower. The European Union got even more unified and is only a few steps from becoming one country, even with some of its members being agains't it. The newborn country, Union of the Socialists Republics of Africa, formed after the unification of most central and eastern countries from the continent, is becoming one of the most powerful countries in the world, thanks to the exploration of minerals and industrialization.
Countries like Brazil lost not only a lot of people from the disease, but also from a civil war, that resulted in profound changes in the government, and the new Brazilian Empire was established. Another place that lost lots of people from the war was the middle east, but thanks to the help of the new UN, the countries are slowly taking back the lead...
Lisa decided to wait for a few years until she could tell Timmy about his situation and to let him decide what he would do if he would like to show himself to the world...
She tried to raise him far away from the scientists and from the fame, trying to give him the most common childhood possible.
