Chapter #4Waking Up In A Strange World by: G.Harold Original Author: Gaturm
Your head was pounding.
That was all you could really think of. The pain was emanating from somewhere behind your eyes, pulsing mercilessly through your skull. You tossed and turned. Your bed didn't comfort you much. In fact, you felt as if you were lying on something much harder. Wood, stone, or maybe even metal.
Through the haze clouding your mind, you desperately searched for an explanation for your condition. But nothing you thought of could explain the pain. It wasn't a hangover - you were much to busy to get smashed on a Wednesday. And you hadn't been sick in ages. No meds, no drugs, there was nothing you had taken that could have such an effect.
The headache got even stronger. Blurry images formed infront of your eyes. A place appeared... one that you had never seen before. An enormous city, made of steel, huge spires of metal piercing the sky, flooded in ugly neon lights. Below, tight and crowded streets. It was a metropolis, for sure.
But then, somehow, your view of the strange city changed. You slowly descended, towards the streets and then underneath. When you could see again, you saw another city. But this one was much cruder and disheveled. Houses were built out of discarded metal plates. A slew of people rushed through narrow paths, scurrying from place to place. Many unsavory faces were hanging around, giving you an uneasy feeling.
Then suddenly, your vision went dark - and the pain subsided. With a start, you got up.
The first thing you noticed was the lack of light. All around you was nothing but pitch blackness. Not even a window. The second thing was the hardness of the floor. Had you fallen out of your bed? You reached around, trying to get a hold of anything - to no avail.
As you struggled to get on your feet, your eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness. Not that you could see anything more. Wherever you were seemed to be completely devoid of furniture. The walls were completely blank. You reached out your hand and touched the surface. Metal.
You stumbled forward. The room was narrow, but long. All you could do was to walk into one direction and hope to find any way of finding out, where you were.
Fortunately, you didn't have to wait long. A small glimmer of light appeared at the end of this metal tunnel. Finally you could get some bearing on your surroundings. With a light jog, you reached the exit.
And stopped dead in your tracks.
The room before you looked absolutely alien to you, for two reasons. First of all, you didn't know any place like this. The furniture and architecture was completely different to what you were used to.
Not that that mattered much. A much greater reason for your bafflement was the simple fact that everything in this room was HUGE! You could barely make out the ceiling of the gigantic room, simple items towered over you. Wherever you were - you were very small. Two inches at best.
With your mind reeling, you hadn't even been able to really take in the room. After a while you noticed, you were standing in a... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
