Chapter #4

Enter Vicki

"Oh, hey Vicki," Belinda smiled, wiping some cake crumbs from her mouth as she greeted the new arrival.

"Everything okay?"

"Yep, just, uh finishing up..."

Belinda sighed internally as Vicki walked by and headed for the fridge. Vicki was, putting it mildly, absolutely stunning. Her immaculate blonde hair was styled in a short bob which reached to her shoulders, and her sparkling blue eyes made her the centre of attention in any room she entered. Belinda's gaze drifted to Vicki's attractive form as she pulled her lunch from the fridge.

Unlike Belinda's gooey cake, Vicki produced a home-brought Tupperware box containing what appeared to be a very health salad. Vicki's body was slender, toned, and curvaceous in all the right ways. She had a perfect bubble butt, a large pair of breasts and a perfectly flat stomach. In short, she was perfect.

Belinda always felt rather self-conscious in Vicki's presence. It was hard to feel anything but inadequate standing beside her. Vicki hadn't worked here that long, but her bright, exuberant personality and good looks had seen her swiftly rise through the ranks, and she was already a level higher than Belinda, who had been with the company twice as long.

Some people have all the luck. I bet they'd pay me more if I looked like a supermodel too...

"You okay, Belinda?" Vicki asked. "You look distracted."

"Me? Oh, yeah, just got a lot going on right now," Belinda said.

In truth, she didn't have a lot going on at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. With Jamie gone, she had nothing on at all.

Vicki sat down opposite Belinda and started eating her lunch, gently stabbing at some leaves and lifted them to her mouth. "Did you hear Stacy is leaving? I wonder who'll get her job..."

Probably you...because they sure as hell won't offer it to me.

"Yeah, it's a shame," Belinda said. "I mean, it kind of os is...but not really ...because...you know...Stacy is a terrible person."

Vicki laughed. "I'm glad one of us said it. Why is she always so angry? She hardly does any work!"

"She complains a lot, that must keep her pretty busy," Belinda smirked.

Vicki giggled again. "Do you think you might apply for her job?"

"Eh, too much stress," Belinda shrugged.

Vicki just nodded. Belinda could see the cogs working in her mind. She was sweet enough, but she was clearly planning her career progression already. Belinda really didn't care either way...but maybe she could do Stacy's job? Jamie had encouraged her to go for a new job and earn some more money, but she had always resisted. She really didn't enjoy her work here, it was just a pay cheque and nothing more. Did she really want more stress?

Then again, maybe it was time for a change, to prove to herself, and to show Jamie, that she wasn't just unmotivated and stuck in a rut...
