One afternoon in Pawston, Ma Barker was taking care of her usual Mom duties when there was a ringing sound at the doorbell. Curious, she went over to open the door and saw Gerald the Mail Dog waiting with a mysterious piece of mail. "Oh, hey Gerald." said Ma. "I have a delivery for the Barker family," replied Gerald. "It's from a mysterious league that happens to be inspired by Japanese culture." "Japanese culture? I've never heard of it. But thanks, anyways." Ma took the mail as Gerald happily walked away. Once he was gone, she went back inside the house and opened the mail, and she couldn't believe what she saw.
"The Multiversal Animal Sumo League?" Ma exclaimed in surprise. Just then, Tag Barker, one of her daughters, came downstairs. "Hi, Ma!" called Tag. "Oh, hi, Tag!" replied Ma. "I just gotten a letter from the MASL. Can you even believe it?!" Tag's tail wagged in excitement. "I sure can't. It's almost like this is a dream come true or something!"
"I know, but wasn't sumo wrestling's always a male dog's sport? Besides, you might not be old enough to participate, yet." explained Ma, which confused Tag. "Oh, I see. But the MASL said that anyone from any age group can join!" Ma just looked stern as she continued, "Point is, I would rather have one of your brothers, or even Scooch, participate in doggy sumo." "Yes, Ma." Tag sighed as she went about her daily routine. She went about Pawston telling everyone about her desires to join the league, but they all told her the same thing. "Sumo wrestling's a male dog sport. You can't compete in it."
Little did they all know that all this push-back wasn't going to stop Tag Barker from becoming a female dog sumo wrestler, feeling determined that she can prove all of them wrong, and proceeded to sign the form for the league. "Signed it! Now I just need to make sure my parents don't know I'm joining the sumo league!" said Tag, who have just signed the form. Just so her parents wouldn't notice, she hid it somewhere in the bedroom where they possibly won't find it, then went to sleep with the other dogs.
The next morning, Tag Barker woke up and did her morning routine as usual. However, while her mom was grabbing her blimp pilot hat, she noticed the form that she had received the other day. As soon as she saw Tag's signature on it, she looked very cross. "Oh, Tag..." Ma said sternly, and walked off to have a word or two with Tag about the "secret".
"Tag!" Tag heard from the living room and cringed a bit. Had she found out about her desires, already? "Oh, no... Mom's gonna be mad at me..." Tag said worringly, as her mom came downstairs, her face still stern, and started talking to her. "Tag... I know what you did. And I only have one thing to say." Ma said to Tag. Tag was even more worried than before. "I'm gonna be in big doggone trouble!" She said to herself. She then proceeded to whimpered and cry like a dog, bracing herself for the inevitable.
Surprisingly for her, Ma Barker just smiled happily at her, unaware that Tag was still whimpering like a dog. "I don't think I've ever seen a female dog have this much interest in sumo before. You might actually make history by becoming the first of its kind!" Ma said as she showed Tag the form. She then stopped whimpering and looked up at her confusingly, then at the form, as she gasped in excitement and grabbed it. "I might?" Tag asked her Ma, who nodded. "That's great!" She gleefully said as her tail started wagging with excitement and she proceeded to explain quickly, "I get to meet all the sumos, put on weight, sumo wrestle, relax with the other sumos, and..." "Now, now, Tag. I know you're excited, but you might want to get yourself prepared for the league." Ma said calmly. "Oh, right." Tag replied, as her tail continued wagging in excitement before she stopped it with her hand.
Just then, a portal to the league appeared outside of their home, and everyone at the Barker house noticed. "Well, I gotta get going. Sumo can't wait for anyone forever! Go, Dog, Go!" Tag exclaimed as she ran off to say her good-byes to everyone she knows, especially Scooch Pooch.
"Well, sure glad you're joining the sumo league." Scooch Pooch said to her soon-to-be-sumo-wrestler neighbor. "I'm a bit hesitant on joining the league, but I'll let you know if I decide to visit the league with or without my mom, and/or if I decide to become a sumo like you." Tag Barker gave him a paw-pound as she then said, "Sounds great! I hope to have a good time, too!" She then headed off to the portal before she looked back at all her friends and neighbors that she made for probably the final time before she becomes a sumo wrestler resident of the league.
"Bye, everyone! I hope to visit you again in Pawston whenever I can!" Tag proudly called out to all of her Pawston friends, who all wished her good luck on her journey to become a female sumo wrestler. With that, she finally stepped through the portal, and found herself standing outside the very building where the league was at. "Whoa..." Tag felt like she was standing on top of the league's version of Mt. Olympus itself. "Just standing her makes me feel like I'm on top of Mt. Chewlympus! Now, what to do first?"
Now that Tag has finally signed up for the Multiversal Animal Sumo League and has arrived there, what will happen next?
