"Are you sure this is supposed to work, Sumire-chan?"
"Of course it will! Are you doubting me? I've been in show business before!"
"Yeah, you've mentioned that..."
Kanon and Sumire were standing in the empty School Idol club room at Yuigaoka Girls' High School. Liella! had promised to perform for the cultural festival that weekend, but Kanon was worried about her stage fright coming back.
"So this is supposed to help me with my anxiety..." Kanon whispered, tightly gripping the red talisman Sumire handed her.
"Yes, just keep that on your person and it will wash all of your anxieties away. I took it from my family's shrine so it's very much legit." Sumire said with a proud smile.
"Wow, thank you Sumire-chan... I'll treasure it. I think I'll be able to go on stage properly with you all this Saturday!"
"You better! You're our leader, remember that!" Sumire pointed a finger in Kanon's direction and gave a wink as if she was looking at a camera.
Kanon and Sumire parted ways for the evening. Kanon went home and practiced her steps, confident in her ability to perform on stage in front of the entire school. Finally, the weekend had arrived. Around 9 AM on Saturday, 10 of the members of Liella! met in the School Idol club room to get some last minute practice in before their show.
"Hey, uh, anyone see Kanon-chan?" Chisato asked.
"I texted her earlier but she didn't answer! I figured maybe her phone was dead," replied Keke, slightly irked.
"She's gonna come, right? You think maybe she just forgot?" wondered Natsumi, fixing her hair.
"Maybe she ditched us." Shiki said with a cold but joking tone.
"She wouldn't. Shibuya Kanon is not that kind of person." Margarete plainly stated.
Mei spoke up with a worried look. "I think one of us should go check on her at her place. Maybe she's sick, or maybe something happened."
Ren nodded in agreement. "Yes, you're right Mei-chan! Does anyone volunteer?"
"I would go but... I don't really know Kanon-senpai as much as you all do..." Tomari looked down, slightly concerned as well.
"Oh! I'll go check on her!" Kinako shouted out while raising her hand politely.
It was decided after a quick straw-pulling game that the loser would leave the school grounds and head to Kanon's house to check on her...
--
The previous night, while Kanon was feeling okay about her anxieties beforehand, the nighttime jitters were getting to her. After tossing and turning in her bed for hours, she finally drifted off to sleep, the talisman Sumire gave her sitting on her nightstand. Throughout the night, Kanon had vivid dreams of being surrounded by people looking down at her, judging her. They laughed and teased, all while Kanon huddled in a corner, shrinking away in embarrassment for not being able to sing. While Kanon slept, the talisman on her night stand glowed with a mysterious light...
Morning arrived, and rays of sunlight peeked through Kanon's curtains. Kanon groggily awoke, feeling a suffocating feeling surrounding her, like she fell asleep underneath five weighted blankets. She was naked, and covered in a cold sweat. For some reason no matter how much she pushed her hands out in front of her, the mass of fabric wouldn't move off her. Kanon realized she wasn't just in her bed, but somehow in her own pajamas!
She scrambled up to the top of the mountain of her own clothes and looked out at her massive bedroom before her. Somehow, Kanon had shrunk! She estimated herself to be around two inches tall. How was this even possible!? Was this related to those vivid dreams she had last night? Kanon started hyperventilating, trying to remember the breathing techniques she learned to overcome her panic attacks. This was all too surreal. She was shrunken and stark naked, standing on top of the pile of pajamas she slept in last night...
Suddenly Kanon heard footsteps approaching her bedroom door. Frozen in fear, she stood motionless on her bed, as a girl she was very familiar with walked in, now a towering giantess...
Which girl came to check on the shrunken Kanon?
