Chapter #3

Starting Over

Derek sighed as he hung up his phone. Trying to find a new gym that his friends were going to and was in his price range and area was turning out harder than he expected. And he literally lived for the gym! Seven gyms now looked at between himself and five of his friends and his friends all found ones within that group that worked for them but he none were anywhere close to his apartment or office. The closest still required him to travel 20 minutes out of his way to get there. Samson was the furthest away, being on the other side of the city, and was also at one that cost several hundred dollars a month. He needed one that was hopefully not out of the way.
Grumbling as he pulled out his laptop once again, he went to search one last time. As he clicked the internet open, the tabs from his previous session returning again, an ad popped up. Growling as he was about to exit out of the ad, he stopped as he noticed it was an ad for a new gym!

Come to the Weight Room for all your body building dreams!
We have everything any aspiring athlete, body builder, powerlifter, or even gainer could want!
There are all the amenities you'd expect at a gym (free weights, machines, etc...) as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet, smoothie shop, clothes store, supplement store, spa, and so much more!
And all of this for the low price of $75 a month!
Come on down for a free tour and session to see if this place is right for you!

Derek scoffed at the circus-esque flyer setup. No serious gym would make a flier like that. And to have all that stuff for that low a price? They're must be worse than Planet Fitness! He was once again about to exit out the ad when he spotted the phone number and address on the bottom. Surprisingly, it was only a couple blocks away. He could easily walk there every day on the way home from work.
"What have I got to lose at this point?" he shrugged.
Timara, his neighbor's Pomeranian, barked at him through her door as he locked his. He just rolled his eyes at the annoying yapper as he left, his heavy footfalls echoing in the hallway.
"Hey! Shortstack!" Liam grinned as the elevator doors opened. "You finally found a gym yet?" The tall man asked as Derek climbed into the elevator, his broad shoulders pushing the taller guy into the back of the elevator.
"Don't know. Going to check out one I just saw an ad for online that's supposed to be only a couple blocks over from Ninth Street."
Liam raised an eyebrow at him. "There's a gym in that area? That's news to me."
"Me too. It seems WAY to good to be true but at this point, I'm getting desperate."
"Oh? What's it claiming to have?"
         "The usual gym equipment..."
         "Of course."
"As well as a buffet, clothes store, smoothie shop, spa, and more."
Liam whistled through his teeth. "Damn. If that's really, it must be charging an arm and a leg!"
"You'd think so but it's only $75 a month, supposedly."
Liam's eyes went wide. "$75 a month? Damn. You'll have to tell me about it. I may just join myself if all that extra stuff is included at no extra cost."
"I wouldn't be surprised if it was cockroach infested with used equipment and crappy food, if any food. Or for everything to be extra."
"Yeah. Probably. But let me know anyways."
The elevator doors opened. "Will do. See you later Liam."
         "See ya Shortstack."
It didn't take long for Derek to arrive at the address listed on the flyer. To his surprise, the gym was in a nicer neighborhood and had huge fluorescent lights declaring "WEIGHT ROOM" above the door. All the windows were clean and even the side walk seemed to have been freshly replaced. The doors slid open as he approached. He raised an eyebrow and grinned at how wide they went. Wider then the average double doors. An excellent goal for him to aim to fill them with his growing mass.
"Welcome to the Weight Room. Are you here for the free day session?" Asked a young, bronze skinned man. His polo shirt clung to his well developed chest (though they still had nothing on Derek's own bulging pecs) with the gym's logo over the left side.
"Yeah. Thought I'd give it a shot. Seems..."
"To good to be true." The receptionist interrupted, grinning. "Well, I'm glad to tell you it's not. Everything it said on the ad is correct." The receptionist input his name into the system as he asked a few regular questions. "Sheryl will be here in a moment to give you the tour." He glanced Derek up and down. "From the looks of it, you won't be needing the trainer services?"
Derek shrugged. "If they come in the price, then I'm not going to turn them down. I'd never turn down any help to get bigger."
"Well then, you've come to the right place. We here at the Weight Room are dedicated to helping everyone fulfill their size dreams, no matter how big or small."
Derek chuckled. "I doubt you'd actually be able to help me fulfill mine, but that's fine by me as long as I continue to get bigger."
"Derek Regan?" A woman asked coming down the stairs to the left of the counter. Derek nodded as she held out her hand, having to suppress a scowl as he noticed the woman a couple inches taller than himself. She smirked as she noticed his facial expression. "Either you don't like fit women or you are right that we can't entirely help you fulfill your size dreams. Height is outside the realm of what we can help with." Her smirk turned into a chuckle as his scowl couldn't be held back at that. "Let me show you around."
Sheryl led him back up the stairs, pointing out the different areas as they went. Derek was surprised by the size of the gym. It was at least four stories, going from a basement to the third floor, but that was just the areas he could see from the first floor. Sheryl told him the spas were in the basement but they wouldn't be going down there at the moment as it was only for official members and he was on a trial day. The free weights were in the area at the top of the stairs behind reception and had dozens of squat racks, weight benches, racks of dumbbells, and all the other needed equipment in abundance. The second floor had all the cardio and weight machines on it. The third floor was where the supplement and clothes store, buffet and smoothie shop were as well as a "weigh station".
"Isn't that a little cruel to your potentially bigger clients?" Derek asked, nodding to the weigh station.
"Oh, no. It's fully functional, can be set to project your weight or keep it private, give body mass index and keep track of your progress and goal based on your member id number. You need to be working with a trainer to use it though."
"Yeah, but isn't that a livestock scale there?"
Sheryl nodded. "It is, but we are here to help everyone achieve their size goals and want the bigger guys and those wanting to get bigger, like yourself, to have a little extra enjoyment about imagining maxing it out and such. There are other scales throughout for those that don't like the idea of that one, but it's mostly there for the guys to big for most regular scales or just as a joke."
"Okay. I can get behind that. That is kind of funny."
"Glad you're not upset by it. Now, do you have any questions or would you like to have one of the trainers work with you to design a plan for today?"
"All of this is included in the $75 monthly fee?"
"Sure is." Sheryl confirmed. "We have top tier, well, not TOP tier, chefs working in the buffet which is made to order. We couldn't afford 5 star chefs or anything like that, but I can assure you that the chefs are excellent. You can also get two tubs of protein and one to two containers of any other supplement from the supplement shop each month and one new set of clothes. The spa is also free. Well, at least the steam room is. The massuse works has a $20 fee since there's only two of them and that can be time consuming. Now, I'll introduce you the trainer you'll be working with today."
Sheryl led him to the back of the building and into an old cargo elevator. "For the guys dreaming of extreme mass?" He joked.
Sheryl chuckled along. "Something like that, yeah."
Sheryl let them out as the elevator landed on the ground floor. "Now, right this way and I'll introduce you to your trainer for the day." She led him back to the reception area where a man in a polo shirt matching the other gym worker's polos was. The trainer turned around as they approached. "Derek, your trainer for today is..." she introduced.
