This choice: Charlie has to go to work and brings Job • Go Back... "I mean I can't believe that you thought that was a good ide-" The alarm goes off a second time, cutting Charlie off midlecture. "...Crap, ok um" She moved Job toward a pocket on her suitcoat. "We're not done with this conversation,"
Job was...still shaken from his recent death (which I think we can all agree is fair) as well as Charlie's Albeit weirdly concerned rant at him when he arrived, so he was slow to respond or really pick up on what was really happening up until the point that Charlie was lowering him into the pocket. "W-wait...wait a minute please do-" And the very, very distracted and rushed Charlie seemingly missed him speaking at all, depositing him into the suit pocket...
This was, in fact, really not a good thing for Job. From his perspective the pocket of the demon princess was around 8 feet deep, but only about 2 feet wide. He didn't have next to any space in there... And he immediately began hyperventilating inside the pocket..
See uh, among many issues he picked up from his experiences with his less then stellar stepfather is Claustrophobia from said stepfather regularly having locked him inside a cabinet or closet when they didn't want to deal with him. This is more or less why being inside this pocket was so terrifying for him, combined with the "recently died" thing, and he's more or less having a panic attack inside the pocket, completely unnoticed by Charlie as she made her way to the hotel...
And less then 15 minutes later Charlie arrived at the hotel, and having entered the lobby, stopped to take the miniature demon mouse OUT of her pocket...and found that she was holding a bundle of now even more frayed nerves that shook and twitched in a still-prevalent panic.
"...Uh, Job? You...alright there buddy?" Charlie poked him gently with a fingertip the size of the smaller demons head... this actually does cause him start talking.
"I-I'm...I'm fine, sorry" Job sat up quickly, now more...embarrassed than anything else. The pocket is what made him lose it? He was in HELL he had bigger issues than a tight space! "Just...not great with tight spaces. At all.."
"O-oh! Oh I'm sorry I didn't reali-"
"It's fine I'll get over it." Job cut her off. "...where are we, anyway?"
"Right, sorry, welcome to the Happy Hotel" Charlie gestured with her free hand to the lobby...a rather nice but completely empty lobby. It would seem whatever this place was it wasn't very popular with hell's citizens. "Hell's Premiere rehabilitation facility!...and also its only rehabilitation facility but thats...not really relevant."
"...Rehabilitation facility?"
"Basically? I set this place up to rehabilitate and redeem the sinners down here so they can get into heaven" Charlie is walking further in "It...hasn't taken off yet"
"Really? I'd figure everyone would want to get out of here" Job stops for a moment. "...I don't suppose I could-"
"I don't know" Charlie sounds apologetic as she says this. "I mean you sold your soul remember? Even if you were clearly not all that evil based on how small you are, I don't think I'll be able to get you into heaven without one"
"Don't you just...have it?"
"Soul's aren't a physical thing, Job" Charlie has made it to an elevator. "And even if it were, I couldn't just give it back, that would make the system too easy to game I guess. Once someone gives up their soul I...don't think its possible to get it back"
"...Oh" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
