"… I’ll swap clothes, I guess…?", Ethan answered slowly. He did not believe anything would happen, but the voice made it clear that he had to choose one of the options.
Ethan never had any interest in crossdressing or anything, but the option of clothes sounded like the safest one.
Swapping bodies with his mother was undesirable, he prefered being himself. Ethan also did not know where the difference between swapping lives and bodies would be. Wouldn't he basically swap lives with his mother when he swapped bodies with her? Personality also sounded like a bad idea. Messing with one's psyche is dangerous and what else would that be?
"Very well then, human! When you awake, your desire shall be granted!", boomed in his mind. Ethan wanted to reply something, telling it that it wasn't really his desire, but he felt his self quickly drift away into nothingness.
As suddenly as he had blacked out, Ethan awoke again and tore his eyes wide open. He found himself at the desk where he had blacked out, the box with his dad's belongings in front of him. The sun was still shining strongly into his room.
"For how long was I out?", he wondered and looked to the edge of his computer monitor. The clock told him that only a few minutes had passed since his mother came in and gave him the box.
"So only for a few seconds?", he thought confused. And what had this voice been on about? Swapping something with his mother? Ridiculous.
Ethan looked down at his hand and saw the ring still on his finger. He had blacked out after putting it on. Was it coated with some sort of poison? Why would his dad have something like this? Or had it been mere coincidence?
"Maybe it was just lack of sleep?", he thought and tried to find a reason for his blackout.
As he absentmindedly stared at the ring, he felt something pinching into his shoulder. His gaze slowly wandered up his arm and then suddenly stopped. His T-shirts short sleeve was missing. Ethan looked at his shoulder in horror and saw that he was not wearing some kind of sleeveless clothing article. It also wasn't in the red colour it T-shirt had been, instead being a rather familiar light yellow.
Shocked, he looked down at himself and couldn’t believe what he saw. Instead of wearing his red T-shirt and grey sweatpants, he wore a light yellow sundress with a flower motive. On his feet were some flip-flops. The pinching he felt on his shoulder came from a white bra he had on underneath his dress.
Ethan immediately recognized the clothes he was wearing. They were his mother’s!
"What the fuck!? W-Was the voice real!?", he thought shocked and jumped up from his chair, knocking it over in the process. He looked around his room with panic. The chair where he gathered all his used clothes was still burried underneath a mountain of various clothing articles, but they were woman's clothing instead of his own.
He quickly dashed towards his closet and opened it. Inside he found his mother's dresses, blouses, skirts, and various other clothing articles instead of his own. At the bottom was a wide array of various shoes, a major upgrade in quantity from the three pairs he previously owned.
"D-Did I really swap clothes just now?", he thought with wide open eyes.
"Ethan?", asked a soft voice suddenly. He turned around and saw his mother standing in the doorway, wearing the very same T-shirt and sweatpants he previously wore. "Everything alright?"
"M-Mom! I can explain!", stuttered Ethan, feeling self-conscious standing in front of his mother in her clothes.
Does his mother notice that they swapped clothes? Or did she come back to investigate the noise of Ethan's chair falling over?
