Carrie had managed to make her way up into the mountains and had been exploring and mapping them out for some time now as she methodically cleared off areas a city of giants could be hidden among the vast range. To some, it would seem impossible that such a place could be here at all, given that she had thus far found no evidence of them, but Carrie was well aware of what feats the elemental colossae were capable of when they put their minds to something. People often thought of them as being like humans, merely larger and with an odd appearance, but that wasn't the case. Even among those who did resemble humans, their proportions weren't quite right for that. Their features were almost too perfect, as if sculpted. Their skin was not merely strangely colored, but textured as if made of entirely different substance than human flesh. They possessed strange and unfamiliar magic common folk struggled to comprehend even when studied directly. And cloud giants were among the most elusive and mysterious of them all.
Still, even with that awareness, she's surprised when she rounds a corner and finds herself staring directly at the place she'd been seeking, an enormous city of elegant, twisting spires within a cluster of towering mountaintops. The place wasn't set into some recess nor built along the slopes, but actually hung in the air, suspended effortlessly by some unknown force, the buildings drifting in a lazy circle as if made of clouds themselves, for all they were clearly solid stone.
