My name is Christina Weaver; Chris for short. I just turned fifteen about a week ago. I have a little brother named Ty who nearing his thirteenth birthday next week; he has been blind since birth. Our mom and dad own a bakery in town that is rather popular with the locals. After a near death experience involving a mean neighbor's dog that had gotten lose last year, Ty seemed to be able to hear once and a while though he always liked to play it off as reading someone's lips. I enjoyed helping mom and dad in the bakery until a car accident left me permanently blind for life.
I do not remember much of the accident other than our car getting T boned by a truck running a red light and that I was sitting right where the truck had hit our car. I remember coming in and out of consciousness in the hospital, seeing images running through my head behind the heavy bandages over my eyes. When they were finally removed, all I could see was darkness but, at the same time, I could see, or thought I could see, myself from the outside from several angles. I mentioned it once but was told it was likely due to the shock of losing my sight.
