Can’t escape in time

    by: TheLittleGuy Author IconMail Icon
You can only watch in total fear as Kyle's massive foot hovers over you.

"Bugs are only good for smushing!" says Kyle, as if reading it from a script.

Just then, a memory stirs. A memory you forgot a long long time ago.

Back when you were just around Kyle's age. He was only three or four at the time.

Your mom had brought both of you to a park where you usually spent most of your summer days.

All the memories start to flood back little by little.

You remember that there was a sandbox your brother used to play in while you kicked around a soccer ball in the open grass a few feet away.

One day, after wearing yourself out quite a bit, you decided to check on Kyle. He was sitting in the sand, watching a few ants pass over the side of the sandbox.

"What are you doing?" you remember asking him.

"Watching the ants"

"Why?"

"Because they're nice to me"

"What do you mean? They're just ants."

"No! Look! They're all waving at me!"

You look closer and immediately understand what he means

"Noooo Kyle, those are just their antenna!"

"Antna?" He asks, messing up the pronunciation.

"Yeah, they're not waving at you, they just do that automatically"

"Oh.... Kyle says with disappointed sadness"

"Hey don't be so down about it!"

"Just remember! Bugs are only good for smushing!" You said as you lifted your sneaker over the ants and crushed them all in one stomp.

Kyle laughed a little and started to feel better.

Back in the present, Kyle's words ring again in your ears.

"Bugs are only good for sm-" You can't finish reciting the line before his massive socked sole comes pressing down on you, crushing you instantly.

After feeling a satisfying crunch against his sole, Kyle smiles with satisfaction and continues to look for his brother.

THE END.

You've come to the end of the story. You can:
