As much as Melona despised her parents, she wouldn't dare reach out to anyone else. And unlike her father, her mother Melina didn't seem to actually dislike Melona.
She was just incredibly stupid.
"Mellllll!!!!" Melona was smothered in a hug the moment she got to her parents house. Or rather, the vacation house they had in Wenkeltowne. Melona had explained her situation over the phone, and her mother had demanded she come over right that second.
"I'm so so so proud of you!" Melina cooed, finally letting Melona out of her incredible jugs, "It's finally happening!"
That gave Melona pause. She knew her mother would be happy about her chest but... Did she know this would happen...?
"Wait what?" Melona asked, "What's happening???"
"Oh my sweet baby Mel, I was worried this day would never come!" Melina smiled, leading her into a drawing room to talk. In an instant the house servants had laid out trays of sweets and finger-foods and poured cups of steaming hot tea. Melona tried to ignore the snacks but failed instantly, munching on them as the pushed her mother to explain.
"Mel, there's something about my side of the family I've never told you." Melina smiled, "Something not even your father knows. It only applies to the women of our family, and sometimes it doesn't take."
"What is it???" Melona asked, mouth full of sweets
"You see," She started, "We. Areeeeeee.....Cursed!!!"
Melona nearly choked on her strawberry shortcake.
"What!? How is that a good thing???"
"Let me finish!" Melina insisted, "You see, long ago our ancestor... Ticked off a goddess? Or maybe it was a powerful witch?"
Melina giggled, "Heehe, I guess I can't remember! But the point is, if you're affected by the curse, all your magic ability gets sealed away until you're an adult. And then! When it's time, the curse awakens, your magic is unlocked, aaaand..."
