This choice: had swapped bodies with Cosyt. • Go Back... Melona felt good.
That was equal parts welcome, unsettling, and unexpected. From what Melona had read, most low-to-mid-level possessions started off with a euphoric feeling for the host. A steady, opiate-like pleasure dulled one's senses and muted one's self-control. Plus, it was easier to take over a victim who didn't mind their position that much.
Thing was, Melona didn't feel drugged. Quite the opposite. She felt alert and powerful. A sense of ease filled her, coupled with a surge of strength in her limbs and a pleasant mixture of warmth and coolness that danced along her skin, sinking into the flesh beneath. Melona was struck with the image of a lioness, stalking its prey on the savanna, a faint chill breeze rustling her fur as the sun warmed her. Yes, that's what she felt like: a predator on the hunt.
The image and sensation quickly became more intense, however, as she felt a strange hunger within her. She needed...something. Something that had to do with the tightness of her clothes around her chest and hips, the softness engulfing her taut muscles, and the sudden realization of where the warmth in her body was at its hottest.
"And with that, the body swap is complete!" she heard her own voice say. Wait, no, it wasn't her voice. It was less nervous, more sultry. If anything, it resembled a recording of somebody who sounded like Melona.
Melona opened her eyes to find that she was staring down at Professor Cosyt's cleavage. She recoiled in shock, looking up to avoid embarrassing herself any further, only to see that she was looking at the class from a far higher vantage point. They were looking back at her with a mixture of awe and desire on their faces. As what the voice said earlier sank into her mind, her eyes widened as her hands flew to her chest. Her fingers sank into Cosyt's soft, warm, heavy bosom, sending a small rush of endorphins through her body. Realizing what she was doing, she stopped herself mid-grope, frozen in fear.
If Melona was in her old body, she knew that the class would be laughing at her. Now, however, they all stared at her, slack-jawed and seemingly not breathing. One young woman--Melona thought her name was Tarja but wasn't quite sure--was actively salivating.
"I think that's enough, Mel." Melona turned and looked down, staring her old body in the face. Its eyes twinkled in the same kind, uncomfortably seductive way that Cosyt's always had.
"Wh--wha--" Melona knew what had happened, of course. Cosyt had swapped bodies with her. That still didn't make this situation any less disorienting.
Cosyt's smile--the far-underused smile that once belonged to Melona--widened. She reached out and grabbed one of Melona's wrists. "Hands off the merchandise, Pearsly. You'll give the other students an aneurysm." She gently guided Melona's hand away from her chest. The sensation of another's body against her sent shockwaves up and down her spine. A strange cloudiness filled her head as a chorus of shocked inhalations came from the class. Even Cosyt's new pupils seemed to dilate as she guided Melona's new hand back towards her side. "Now the other one."
Melona looked down at her other, perfectly manicured hand. Almost involuntarily, her fingers flexed outward, releasing their gentle grip on herself as she lowered her hand back down. There were a couple of groans in the class. Melona looked up to find that her fellow students were, to a one, disappointed.
"I'm--Professor I'm sorry, it's just--"
Cosyt laughed. Somehow, despite her new body, Melona still felt jealous of her. Cosyt made Melona's laugh sound so nice. It was almost as though her essence was wearing Melona's body like a dress, and it just looked better on her.
"Don't worry, Mel," said Cosyt. "This demonstration always takes some getting used to. Last year's subject made a far bigger spectacle of herself. At least you've kept your clothes on." She leaned over towards her desk and grabbed a stack of note cards, handing them to Melona. "Now, would you be a dear and read these questions for me? I find that my old body is a bit better at keeping the class in line."
Melona took the cards, hands shaking a little, as she read the first one aloud.
"What--can anyone tell me what principle underlies the body swapping spell?"
Every hand in the room went up. Melona picked one at random. "Um. You?"
"It's a simultaneous summoning and banishment," said the young woman. Melona wasn't quite sure who she was; she was generally too preoccupied in Summoning class to pay attention to the other students. "It uses um--uh--" Her gaze was wandering, flicking from Cosyt's new body to Melona's. "That thing where one spell automatically triggers another. It causes an intraplanar banishment or containment spell to trigger a summoning spell. Basically you banish your own mind into the target's and summon hers into yours."
Melona knew that she was right, though not remembering the principle of Sequential Casting wasn't a great sign. She looked down at Cosyt, who nodded back up at her.
"Good enough?" said Melona. "But it's called the Sequential Casting Principle."
The woman actually smacked herself in the forehead. "Oh, of course! Sorry, Professor. I mean--um. Melona. I mean--" she looked back at Cosyt's new body. "P--professor, why am I--"
Cosyt nodded and gestured at Melona. "The next card will explain."
Melona looked down and read the next card. "Right now, the professor's aura is having a stronger effect on you than usual. Can anyone tell me why?"
Tarja's hand went up so quickly that Melona thought she would dislocate a shoulder. Her bobbed black hair jostled from the sudden movement.
"Um. Tarja?"
"That's Annette, Mel," said Cosyt. She sounded more amused than annoyed.
"That's okay, Professor! Tarja's my middle name!" said Annette.
Melona looked own at Cosyt, who smiled and mouthed the words "no it's not" at her. She looked back up. "I mean--Annette."
"It's because long term corruption actively taints the soul," said Annette. The words came tumbling out of her mouth in quick succession, desperate to reach the approving ears of her professor and classmate. "But a corrupted body stays corrupted, even without its original soul. So um--" she pointed at the two of them. "Right now we're getting two lust auras at once?"
"Correct!" said Cosyt. She shifted uncomfortably, her new, pale skin beginning to flush. "This current situation is a little more complicated than just that, but we--let's keep going. One more question."
Melona looked down and read off the next card. "True or False: Body-swapping with a corrupted human is far easier than mind-swapping with an untainted human."
A chorus of "TRUE!" erupted from the classroom. Melona looked down at Cosyt. "Should I ask the rest of the question?"
Cosyt shook her head as she swallowed. She looked nervous all of a sudden. "No! I--no, that's fine! Let's just get back to the lesson. Mel, if you'd step back into the circle?"
Melona nodded as she switched places with Cosyt.
"Now, Mel, I'm going to have to get some of your old body's blood, alright? I do apologize but the person who cast the spell is the only person who can reverse it." Cosyt turned her head back towards the class, suddenly realizing that this was supposed to be part of the lecture. Something was dreadfully wrong. Melona had never seen Cosyt so on-edge.
"Professor, are you--"
"I'm fine!" Cosyt lunged for the dagger, slashing it along one of her new fingertips in a single fluid motion. She let the blade clatter to the floor as she almost fell to her knees, slamming her profusely-bleeding fingertip onto the circle. "I just--I just need to get out of this body," she said. "Which'll be happening in three, two, one--" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
