Melona knew that Professor Honeydew was casting a spell. For one thing, that was very obviously an incantation of some sort. For another thing, Honeydew's eyes almost always glowed when she was casting charms. Something to do with helping induce a trance state. For a third thing, Melona could almost feel the power rippling out from Honeydew's body. It crashed around her like a wave against a mountain, immense and unstoppable, but with no great consequence. Melona nearly jumped in shock, not from the power of Honeydew's spell but its lack of effect. Throwing that much mana around to have no real result was almost impressive. She would have expected something to happen, but nothing did.
Honeydew blinked. "Anything?"
Melona tried to find the right words to say. "Um. What was supposed to happen right there?"
Honeydew sighed and shook her head. "Never mind, Melmel. I just kinda guessed you were--never mind. You can go." She looked genuinely shaken. Melona had never seen Honeydew like that before.
"I--alright, Professor." Melona turned around and walked back out into the hall. As soon as she did--
