Melona got up and rounded the corner of a shelf. She could have sworn that she heard something. What, she couldn't say. She had been a little too absorbed by her book to have identified the nature of the sound. That being said, she wanted to figure out what was going on. This was a welcome distraction.

There came the sound again. It sounded like a hissing, or maybe whispering, or something else that was soft and impossible to ignore in the silence of the library.
